The Boat House

We had such a wonderful stay at the Boat House. From the moment we arrived, everything was just lovely- the house is relaxed and welcoming and the location at Waimārama Beach, is simply stunning. We enjoyed visiting Craggy Range, Cape Kidnappers, Havelock North and many other gorgeous towns near by. We enjoyed coming back to boat house every afternoon, stoking the fire and cooking a delicious meal. The house is very well appointed and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. ”

Comfortable Elegance

A fabulous place to vacation with family and friends. Indoor and outdoor spaces to gather and relax. Plenty to do even in the winter. Close walk to the beach. The playground adjacent to the beach was a hit with the kids. Adults enjoyed the nearby wineries. The kitchen had everything needed to make a spectacular meal. Gracious and helpful host. ”

Perfect Winter Retreat

My husband and I had a fabulous week at The Boathouse. It offered a perfect blend of 'rustic' comfort with luxurious touches where it counts (linen bedding, bathroom underfloor heating, the chef's kitchen). We especially enjoyed home cooked dinners in front of the fire and the toasty hot tub. But also had some fabulous meals out at Church Road Winery, Craggy Range Estate and Cellar 495 in Hastings. A local recommendation to do a wine tasting at Mission Estate was also a great suggestion. Havelock North (about 25 mins away) is a lovely classy little town with great boutiques and cafes (plus a large supermarket). The unspoilt beach is only two minutes walk away from the house and even in Winter was a great spot for fresh air and scenic views. A drive up Te Mata Peak offered spectacular views over Hawkes Bay. We'd love to return to the area and wouldn't hesitate to rebook at The Boathouse. ”

The Boathouse was lovely and had everything we needed. Even more so as, due to inclement weather, we actually spent more time at the house enjoying warm fires and local wines after walks along the beach! Both the beach and surrounding scenery were spectacular! ”

Secluded Getaway

Took our family to the Boathouse and had a wonderful quiet getaway. The property has more than enough of everything and a great layout, it is be perfect for large and small families or even 3. The location is just off the beach and down from the only general store in town. we went off season and although had to prepare and organized food to last, we had perfect weather and it was blissfully quiet. Next time leave the kids and enjoy more of the many wineries available. ”

Beautiful spot !

We had the best stay in Hawke’s Bay with great beaches and sunrises just a short walk from the house, enjoyed great hikes and amazing food and wine at several wineries. The landscape and hills are breathtaking and the house is perfect for a family or group with great entertaining spaces and an easy kitchen to prepare meals. Our hosts were most welcoming and helpful when it came to any questions as well as ideas for things to do and see - if we get the chance to return to NZ and Hawkes Bay, this would be a stop we would love to repeat!”

Beautifully appointed home and location close to beach

This is our second stay at The Boathouse and it was yet again an exceptional week and a great place to recharge with the family. Even though we visited in Autumn (April), kids were still able to swim in the pool (a little chilly for the adults) and the roaring outdoor fire place in the evenings created a lovely ambiance and plenty fun for the kids and marshmallows ! Masses of books and board games available to use in the home also. The beach at Waimarama is only a 5 minute walk, and is lovely all year round - great for morning / evening walks. Nearby (20 minutes drive) is Havelock North - a quaint town with exceptional biking trails and wineries, along with excellent food options. The Boathouse for us was a great week as a family retreat on this occasion, however we would not hesitate to return again - maybe next time bring some friends so we can enjoy good company and good food accompanied with a glass of wine or few in some of the world class wineries that the Hawkes Bay is growing famous for !”

Wonderful stay at the “Boathouse

We had a wonderful stay at the boathouse. It was spacious and had a well stocked kitchen. It was a beautiful location within two blocks of the beach, which we took advantage of every day. Rebecca was very gracious and extremely helpful,, giving us information and suggestions on places to visit that enriched our experience of that part of New Zealand. Hawke’s Bay is truly a gem. We would recommend the “Boathouse” to anyone wanting to enjoy a beautiful home while experiencing one of the most beautiful places on earth. Gary & Helen”

Beautiful, rustic house that could hold two families comfortably. Owner was very responsive and friendly about being contacted with questions. Waimarama Beach was a couple of min walk away. We enjoyed our stay and New Zealand immensely. ”

The pool and spa as well as multiple indoor and outdoor entertaining spaces offer plenty of options. A stones throw from the spectacular Waimarama Beach, the Boat House ticks all the boxes. Would highly recommend this property if you are ever lucky enough to have the opportunity to stay there. ”
