Beautiful and relaxing week at Las Palmas

Our family of five thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Las Palmas. The penthouse boasts fabulous views. Staff were extremely friendly and made our stay very comfortable. We hope to return!”

Relaxing stay

The villa is beautiful with a magnificent view. The large pool on the deck is great. We didn’t need to walk down to the main pool and enjoyed the villa and the pool. The beds were very comfortable and we had all the necessities. I would suggest renting the car from airport, villa is a few minutes drive from airport or about a 45 min walk. But there are no shops close by so for any shopping you need a ride or taxi. Driving around was very easy and safe. The beach by the villa is not safe for swimming so we drove to other areas to swim. The best place we found was clubmed for $62 per day you have full access to the beach chairs food and drinks from 11am to 6 pm and the beach was great, you can also take a water taxi to the island. The resort has a small limited menu resturant, food was great but once we got a car we ended up getting stuff and cooking and eating on the deck with the amazing ocean view. The unit is mostly glass front which makes it really nice and bright but the bedroom shades are perfect and keep the room dark for sleeping late. Everything in the villa worked perfectly and the place was well kept with nice professional staff. We had an amazing time. ”

Very good stay, but with caveats

We had a nice stay at Richard and Gloria’s condo. Las Palmas is a 31 unit development south of Zihuatanejo, near the airport, on a beautiful beach. The unit has a great view of the beach and ocean. Finishes and appliances are great quality and the bed was comfortable. The restaurant on-site was pretty good despite the limited clientele pool. Servers Tomas and Isaac are exceptional. Pools are nice, but unexciting. Great for a quiet relaxing stay. So here are the negatives. The unit has a fun but difficult floor plan. Bedrooms are on the opposite ends of a long, rather shallow rectangular layout, with a kitchen and large open area in between. As currently utilized, there’s a large dining table with six chairs on one end. On the other end, two lounges are kept inside (when not pulled out onto the balcony) and there are two upholstered chairs. That’s it. There’s no sofa or anything that would allow more than two people to sit , relax and talk inside the condo. The only TV is in the larger bedroom. For us, the unit would be undesirable for more than two people, without creating some actual living space. The condo has been well loved by Gloria and Richard. It’s obvious they’ve enjoyed spending time here over the years. They’ve got plentiful utensils, appliances, silverware and dinnerware. Unfortunately all the drawers and cupboards are full of stuff. Likewise the drawers, cupboards and pantry/laundry are quite jumbled. For example I saw a hammer in a drawer with utensils and there’s no place where guests could put groceries except on the countertops. Overall, the space could use a healthy clearing out and organizing. We were there first full week of June - beginning of hot season. ThE A/C struggled to keep the larger open area habitable. We mostly kept doors and windows open during the day to get the breeze. The bathroom, however, was an oven. Beautiful location, decent but awkward living space, nice people. Overall relaxing. ”

Penthouse Paradise

Gloria and Richard, the owners and all of the staff at the resort were very nice and helpful. There were not many owners or guests staying at that time of year which made it nice except the restaurant and bar closed at 5:00 pm most of the days and there were very few options close by. The staff also warned us about the safety of going off site after dark. Having your own pool in the penthouse was nice. The only problem was that if the pool circulator ran at night it was a disturbance to the people below. The kitchen was nicely equipped but we did not cook as there was no source of groceries nearby. The unit did not have much of a lounging area inside but it did have nice areas outside to enjoy the pool and ocean view. Another thing we did find unusual was that all of the closets and drawers were full with the owners personal items.”

Relax away from it all

Very nice self sufficient complex. The restaurant was great and if you didn’t want to leave you could stay right there the whole time. Down side is that it is a bit away from other things you may want to check out”

We had a wonderful stay at las palmas. Location is beautifully located in a very quite zone, the beach is very clean and the condo has beautiful facilities. The apartment has magnificent views. I would just recommend to have a sitting area i.e. sofas etc to enjoy time at the place.”

Lush, Ocean-view, Relaxing, great getaway from the snow

This 3rd floor penthouse condo is very relaxing in a lush boutique resort (31 condos), which offers 2 pools, a long deserted beach, and good restaurant. We loved our own huge plunge infinity pool on our balcony. It has 2 bedrooms on opposite ends of the condo giving privacy and great views for 2 couples. The resort is rated as the 6th top hotel in Mexico by TripAdvisor for 2016. It is located near the airport. You will need a car as it is about a 15 minute drive to Zihautanejo, which is still quite a local town. Right next to the town is Playa Ropa, which are where the tourists are and has many beachside restaurants. The condo has maid service 3 times/week and has a BBQ. Gloria and Richard, the owners, are easy and friendly. Good breeze most of the time so no need for A/C except at night when we closed the windows to keep out the few misquotes. The staff at the resort are very helpful and friendly, and tried to make our stay most pleasant. We would love to go again.”
