- TANĒ MAHUTA: Waipoua Forest is home to the famous “Tane Mahuta”, NZ's largest Kauri tree (approximately 2,000 years old) and what a sight it is to see. As you drive through, be greeted by Kauri trees and coloured ferns alongside the road's edge.
- TWIN COAST CYCLE TRAIL: explore from Kaikohe (40 mins drive), the trail’s highest point. Continue on to Horeke, ending at the waterfront pub. Book bikes/shuttles with Top Trail Kaikohe. Return via charter boat to Rawene for a stunning cruise back.
- NGAWHA SPRINGS: bathe in the healing waters, where mineral-rich pools rise from deep within the earth. This sacred place is shaped by Ruaumoko, the unborn child of Papatūānuku, whose ancient energy is felt in every warm, revitalising soak.
- RANUI ON HOKIANGA: charter boat operating within the Hokianga Harbour. Provides sunset cruises and cycle transport if you're doing the Twin Coast Cycle Trail. Leaves from Horeke, Kohukohu or Rawene. Book in advance.
- FISHING AT OPONONI BEACH: simple and soulful. Cast a line into the calm harbour waters or off the shoreline as the tide shifts. With wide skies overhead and the sand dunes in view, it’s less about the catch and more about the quiet rhythm of the sea.
