The quick access to such amazing trails was also a treat. The house is really close to Panther town forest, an amazing trail system with almost no people and tons of water falls. We started every morning at the coffee shop in town, which was less than a five minute drive from the house. After hiking, swimming, or biking the many miles of gravel roads throughout Cashiers we would visit the local brewery, Whitesides, or the adjacent park for the kids to play before heading back to the house. Both are just minutes from the house. Not only was the location and amenities great, but the house was really comfortable. We had plenty of space with kids and it was really well decorated. If you want a charming house in the mountains with proximity and access to both quaint towns and the outdoors, then this is it! We rented a pontoon for a few hours on Lake Glenville and it was beautiful to see waterfalls only accessible from the water. We enjoyed the hiking near Bryson City—up the mountain and long the river. Saw some beautiful water falls. We also visited Cherokee Indian Reservation—museum—very interesting. We also visited the Biltmore Estate in Asheville—beautiful home and gardens. We stayed in a couple of days—sitting on the porch, playing games, walking the roads, meeting a very nice neighbor, and watching movies in the theatre room at night. It also has its own dock and my daughters availed of the kayak on the last day. In January, it was exhilarating to say the least! \\nWe enjoyed daily hikes, the use of the Clubhouse, where we spent New Year’s Eve, even partook of the yearly tradition- “Polar Plunge,” and got to experience the Club’s warm hospitality first hand. Being from California, this reminded us of a smaller, less congested version of Carmel. Definitely no air conditioning needed!\\n\\nThe house is spacious--especially the huge family room with seating for a large number of people. And our dinner for 10 people was easily accommodated in the adjacent dining room. We had fun playing pool on the lower level of the house but didn't get a chance to use the fire pit in the back yard by the lake.\\n\\nJust to note if you have several couples visiting---the top floor has only one bathroom and anyone staying in the queen bedroom would have to actually walk THROUGH the twin bedroom to get to that bathroom. This inconvenience didn't impact our stay, but it's important to note it.
