One of our best stays ever!

I’m reluctant to write a good review for the Viceroy for fear it will increase the demand for ThirdHome stays there and make it more difficult for us to get back there again. Everything about the property, the staff, the food, the location and the area (San Jose del Cabo) were 5 Star! Viceroy has replaced Hawaii as our last-minute getaway destination.”

Always a treat from stay in a Viceroy Villa

This years unit was even better than last. Five bedrooms rather than three. Plenty of room for the family. Miele appliances throughout. Views, food and even kids club was great.”

Staff and views are awesome.

Only suggestion is to bring a few pods of dishwasher soap and washing machine soap. For some reason Viceroy will not supply basic cleaning supplies. They are stepping over dollars to pick up pennies. Their facility is amazing with great cooking areas, BBQs on deck, washer dryer, and dishwasher, but they do not provide supplies for these items. Alcohol drinks are expensive, but food prices are reasonable. Food is very good in all their restaurants. Claudia in Owner Services gives excellent customer service and Ramiro the bell man is amazing. Francisco the front desk supervisor was very helpful too. Awacate Mexican restaurant at the hotel is fantastic. Highly recommend Viceroy. Can't wait to return.”

Great Stay

This is our second trip to the Viceroy and it didn't disappoint. We had a villa overlooking the ocean and the pool and it was really nice. It had a large private pool and large outdoor patio where we spent most of our stay. I would recommend booking it. Service was excellent as it was last trip. I would recommend this hotel to friends.”

Fantastic!

The 3 bedroom penthouse was fantastic! It had every amenity and a spectacular view as well. We loved the privacy of the three bedrooms all with ensuite baths and the living space both outside and inside on the top floor. Please note that it is not handicap accessible and it's on the second and third floors. Highly recommend! ”

Wonderful Stay in Cabo!

We had reserved a 3 bedroom and were upgraded to a 5 bedroom villa. Simply stunning modern design both in the villa and the grounds.We enjoyed the Pool, beach, gym, & on-site restaurants during our visit. The concierge, bellman, restaurant servers and housekeepers all provided a 5 star experience. I’m not sure if I would have enjoyed a 1 or 2 bedroom here as it is very visible at night to see in the hotel rooms, but I would definitely recommend the villas with private rooftop pool! ”

Good - could be great!

Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Viceroy. The unit itself was very large and easily accommodated our family of five (with room to spare). The unit was NOT beachfront as stated in the ThirdHome listing. Instead of having wrap around views of the ocean (as shown in the listing), one side looked straight into another building. There were quite a few annoyances (which the Viceroy staff tried their best to take care of) - grill wasn't working properly, the kitchen was not stocked with enough pots/pans/etc to actually really use it, the ac (perhaps due to the size of the unit) could not keep the place cool once the sun was up, random lights and blinds didn't work, etc. - to the point where we just stopped asking for things to be remedied. It seemed as if this unit was sparingly used. Roof top, pool, service and a wonderful kids club made up for the downfalls though. Not sure if we would be back without a guarantee of beachfront and ensuring all items in the unit were actually functional. Perhaps we have been spoiled by Chileno Bay in the past, but this hotel and unit were definitely a few notches below what Auberge offers. ”

Not the best service

Architecturally the hotel is pleasant to look at. The location is centrally located for many types of day trips. This particular unit is awkwardly large so the a/c never actually cools the home down. In fact it broke and we had to move to a smaller room late at night (my suggestion) not the front desk. They would have had us stay in there without a/c if I didn’t suggest moving. The unit still didn’t get fixed the next day but they still had us move back into it. Finally they gave up after I pressured them and they moved us again when they realized they couldn’t fix the unit. The funny thing was that the occupancy of the hotel was only 45% so there was plenty of room. That said the service/management of this property was not the best experience. ”

Huge villa, close to San Jose del Cabo

The space in the villa was great - it’s large and very comfortable. The viceroy hotel is good - I’d give it 4 stars. The staff was helpful. It’s quite a modern hotel, so lacks the charm of some of the other luxury properties in Cabo. The main issue is that their food options are quite limited and extraordinarily over priced - a kid’s chicken tender and fries is $28 US and a side of bacon is $13. There’s also limited food options at night as one of their restaurants is closed and their Mexican restaurant isn’t open for dinner. The town of San Jose del Cabo is lovely and charming and it was wonderful being so close to it.”

Lovely stay

We had a great last minute stay at one of the residences at the viceroy. The villa was large, well appointed and a great spot for me + my kiddos for an escape. We cooked and stayed primarily to ourselves. We did have some mechanical issues with AC/noise in mechanical room and the Viceroy made best attempts to correct.”
