Crested Butte, Colorado
Crested Butte Mountain Getaway
Tranquil Mountain Getaway
The former coal mining town of Crested Butte is now named "The Last True Ski Town in Colorado". This 3 bedroom, 3 bath, 3,500 sq. ft. mountain home is off the beaten path so there are no Denver day skiers to jam up the ski runs and chair lifts. Abundant ski runs with over the top Colorado powder snow and breath taking views of the valley will provide unforgettable memories of your trip.
Upon entering the home you'll find a cozy living room with a large flat screen tv, several couches, and a fireplace. It is an ideal setting for curling up with a hot mug of cocoa after a long, fun day on the slopes! The formal dining table is located behind the living room and has seats for 8. Along the bar of the kitchen are four bar stools for additional seating and casual dining. All three of the bedrooms contain king size beds. There is a separate entertainment/sitting room that has a nice chess set, a large sectional couch, and tables/chairs for card games or relaxing with cocktails in the evening.
This custom-built mountain home with a 8 minute walk to Goldlink chairlift offers ultimate ski convenience. However, you will be staying in the exclusive Wildhorse community and therefore you will not have to deal with the crowds and noise of ski mountain lodging.
Not a skier? Visit our mountain home during the gorgeous summer months. There are many summer festivals including the famous wildflower festival at the end of June. Fly fishing in the local rivers is a big highlight in the area. Visit Crested Butte in the Fall for spectacular hiking and horse back riding.
Our home (located in the Wild-horse Community) is only 3.5 miles from downtown historic Crested Butte. The property offers amazing views, a quiet, peaceful location, and brilliant night skies. You can easily walk to hiking and snowshoeing trails.

Our 3rd Home stay at 26 Appaloosa in Crested Butte was very enjoyable, but was not without disappointments. The house itself was beautifully furnished and well stocked with kitchen and bath amenities; located on a quiet street; and offered a beautiful view of the Northern slopes of Crested Butte Mountain Resort. However, the home was inaccurately listed as ‘Ski-in/Ski-Out.’ The nearest lift to the home (Gold Link) was only accessibly by a ¼ mile walk or drive to a small parking area that accommodated only 4 cars, followed by an uphill trudge of several hundred yards to reach the lift. There was also no way to ski back to the home. When we contacted the owner for instructions on how we might be able to ‘ski in/ski out’ we were told that it was ‘a relative term.’ We made the best of the situation, but each day required several trips to get our full crew and gear to the parking area, and often the lot was full, requiring that one member drop the car at the house and walk back to the lift. This also prevented us from being able to easily return to the house for lunch or for a break. Once you were back at the house for any reason, your ski day was effectively over. As an additional warning, if the lot is already full with the maximum 3-4 cars, DON’T park on the street – you will be ticketed. All in all it was a wonderful week, and if we had knowingly chosen a non-Ski-in/Ski-out location, it probably wouldn’t have rankled so much; but as it was, it definitely had a negative impact. ”
