Family Vacation

Casa Vela is such a perfect vacation spot especially if you are wanting to relax and connect with loved ones! Bruce and Alberto are the most responsive hosts we have ever encountered with a Third Home stay. Their staff is exceptional! Rosaria and Paula prepared and served us three delicious meals each day - much more than we ever eat at home and we ate it all! Their piña, coladas, and margaritas were delicious! The setting is difficult to describe - it sits a few feet from the ocean at the end of thick jungle that protects you from all of the sounds of regular life. There are a few hotels up and down the beach, but it still felt so private. Just a few steps away is a cenote that is spring fed and opens up to the ocean. The water is crystal clear and full of sea life, mainly bonefish, who didn’t mind swimming where we were swimming. The House is open air in the main areas, but all of the bedrooms are large, very comfortably furnished and air-conditioned. There are standup paddle boards and kayaks and ping-pong table… And card tables and big comfortable deep sofas to lounge in while taking in the ocean and the breeze. Bruce recommended we take a drive to Ek Balam and we are so glad we did. We went diving a few times and even dove in the cenotes one day. Valladolid is worth seeing. We only had time for lunch, but will spend more time exploring the town next time. I can’t recommend this home enough! It is one of the best Third Home vacations we have ever had as a family! ”

Lovely home by the Cenotés

The staff were amazing and made our stay so special. The owners and staff went out of their way for the youngest among us with crib, car seat, baby formula and diapers at the ready. My daughters and I felt safe and secure. The only negative was that red tide had enveloped the area and so the beaches were not great. However, swimming in the cenotés was fabulous.”

Really Great Place

We had a great week at Casa Vela. It is a really unique property that is only about 50 feet from the ocean. Nice breeze and waves all day. The Bedrooms are all well appointed and the set up is perfect for a beach vacation. However, the best part is the staff, especially. The prepared meals were all fresh and bountiful and all needs were addressed immediately. The co-owner, Alberto, was great to work with. We hope to return soon!”

If reconnecting with your children, rekindling the romance with your wife, or just rebooting your mind and body from the noise and stress of an executive's reality, is your goal, this is the place for you. My wife and I, run multiple businesses, and were in desperate need of a mental and physical recovery. We realized that sitting around a pool at a resort for a week, just wasn't going to give us what we needed. Detaching, unplugging, refocusing, and getting our energy and intimacy back, had become more important than any other type of entertainment than we could think of. Honestly, I'd forgotten the serentity of simply being still and quiet, hearing nothing but the gentle, rhythmic sound of the waves. Casa Vela sits on 100 acres accessed only through a security gate down a long scenic drive. The house sits on a private beach, with the ocean literally 20 yards away. Completely private, very sexy, and stunningly gorgeous. We had a chance to meet the owner Bruce while we were there. He was absolutely charming, and made our comfort and enjoyment of the property a priority. He surprised us by hosting a dinner with the chefs that are available with the property. The meal was a six course mexican masterpiece. I would highly recommend taking advantage of the chef option that Bruce offers. We both agreed that the meal was the best that we had on the trip. As isolated as you feel while you are at the property, there is an all inclusive resort about 200 yards down the beach with a fully equiped dive shop. My wife, had been interested in learning to dive for years and we had her fully certified in 3 days and enjoyed 4 dives together, on the reef which is just a short distance from the resort. Playa Del Carman is only 20 minutes away, and is clean, friendly, and a joy to walk. Paddle boards, and kayaks are included in the property! ”

Rancho el Porvenir

Our October stay at Rancho el Porvenir was indescribable! The property is located directly on the beach & allows you experience Playa del Carmen a la Swiss Family Robinson with the open air house allowing you unobscured views of the Mexican Caribbean with all the amenities of home with a gourmet kitchen, internet, & Sky TV. The caretaker, Alberto, also a sailing instructor & breeder of rare birds, helped to arrange for us housekeeping, security, grocery delivery, and was gracious enough to take us out on his own boat snorkeling, as well as to teach us all about all of the native wildlife that reside on the property. A truly unique & amazing property!”
