Lake Rabun Georgia Mountain Retreat
Overlooking Lake Rabun (pristine mountain lake), this 4 bedroom, 4.5 bath custom-designed log home is nestled in exclusive Lakemont, Georgia. Encompassing 4,300 sq. ft. you'll find that this property is appointed with the finest accommodations for your mountaintop retreat. The designer home has been featured in several home magazines.
Entering the home, you’re greeted by the warm and well appointed great room, which features floor to ceiling windows that allow access to the private deck as well as gorgeous views of Lake Rabun and surrounding mountain terrain. Exposed log walls and post and beam ceiling construction provide a cozy mountain vibe. Not to be overlooked, the impressive dining area, kitchen, and gathering area are also within this open floor plan. The kitchen features granite countertops, custom appliances, and wood crafted cabinets, as well as an island with bar stool seating that is perfect for a lazy afternoon meal!
For more formal meals, consider the dining room with a large exquisite table and room to accommodate ten guests comfortably. With a large skylight above the table and high ceilings, this area creates the ideal ambiance for entertaining. Or step through the double french doors to the covered outdoor dining porch with furnishings locally hand-crafted from 100 year old wood and amazing views of the lake and mountains.
After dinner, adjourn to the sitting area where the theme of high ceilings with exposed log rafters continues. With lavish seating all will be comfortable to enjoy the large stone woodburning fireplace, TV, game table, or the views! Just outside this area is the open part of the deck prow featuring adirondack chairs to soak up the sun and views. Adjacent is the covered outdoor living room with a wood-burning fireplace, hanging "swing bed", and lush seating, plus the views!
The master suite on the main level features a locally hand-crafted wooden kingsized bed, window seat, gas fireplace, and double french doors opening to the sitting porch. This room features more amazing views of the lake and mountains. The attached master bath includes a jetted tub with french windows and view of the mountains, separate shower, double vanities, separate toilet and bidet room, all done in golden Jerusalem limestone tiles.
The lower level features two private guest suites separated by a second living room with 40-inch tv and the fourth fireplace, laundry room, and kitchen area with Keurig coffee machine and refrigerator. Each room on this level opens to another full-house width deck with adirondack chairs and swing. Every room has ample windows with lake and mountain views!
The spacious and expertly appointed second master suite is adorned with a king bed with luxury linens. A french door opens to a private area of the deck with a cypress swing and adirondack chairs. The private bath has many amenities, a vanity, and ample counter space. However, the real show-stealers are the bathtub and shower! The jetted tub is embellished with crafted tile and offers a luxurious soak while maintaining privacy, as does the walk-in shower which has a floor to ceiling window, creating a lush shower oasis.
The second guest room features a queen bed with luxury linens and new mattresses, private bath with cabinetry crafted from antique barnwood, and a stone shower. A french door opens to a private area of the balcony with its own adirondack loveseat, chairs, and tables.
In the loft, the highest point of the home has been turned into an extensive library with ornate ceilings. This space is appointed with ample seating to get lost in a good book! The library is flanked by the bunkroom and an office.
The remaining guest room includes a queen bed and two twin built-in bunk beds, 40 inch wall-mounted tv with dvd, and a private balcony. The bath includes a small shower, toilet and sink. This is every child's favorite place!

Gorgeous Mountain Retreat!
Unbelievable home with breathtaking views! Attention to detail in each and every room. One of THE nicest Third Home exchanges we have had the pleasure of visiting. Hope to go back someday!”
We had a wonderful time at Oldwood hiking, kayaking, tubing on Lake Rabun and relaxing. Andrea was very helpful in suggesting activities and places to eat. Favorite part was just sitting on the porch with a book and cup of tea enjoying the beautiful view and hummingbirds!”
The home couldn’t be more perfect and Andrea is the best hostess!!! You can’t possibly go wrong with this beautiful property. ”
Beautiful Home & A Great Stay!
This Georgia lake home was the perfect home-base for our trip to Lake Rabun to view the eclipse. Our host was provided perfect information prior to our arrival including directions, house instructions, and area recommendations. She was a perfect host. The home, which has been featured in many magazines and won awards, had wonderful lake views, beautiful outdoor areas, and is well equipped. One thing to be aware of (not a complaint) is that the last mile or so to the house has two-way traffic on a one-lane road. This can require some maneuvering to let others pass, etc and was not a big deal for us as we are used to these types of roads, but thought I would mention. Overall, definitely a five-star residence and host!!!”
