Dunalistair House at The Kinloch Golf Club
Dunalistair House offers luxurious, yet understated design in what is one of New Zealand's premium award winning holiday homes. Four ensuite bedrooms are split by a large communal pavilion area with outstanding views of the Jack Nicklaus Signature Course, The Kinloch Golf Club, as well as Lake Taupo in the distance.
The four luxurious ensuite bedrooms are inspired by feature wallpapers and New Zealand artwork, and being private from each other, the rooms create an ambiance that allows you to sink into your own personal heaven in this hidden gem location.
The owners live nearby, and have over 20 years of travel industry experience, enabling them to offer you a full concierge and advisory service if required for your trip to Dunalistair House and are happy to help with your wider New Zealand travel plans.
Dunalistair is located a kilometre from the village of Kinloch, a small holiday town with stunning lakefront beaches, walking and biking tracks, marina, pub and restaurant and local store. The local town of Taupo is an easy 15 minute drive and offers fantastic shops, supermarkets, cafes and restaurants. Rotorua is also only 50 minutes away, with its abundance of activities on offer.
Meet some of the locals down the Tipsy Trout on Thursday happy hour, or take a day to walk the world famous Tongariro Crossing. If trout fishing is a hobby, you will discover why the Taupo region is one of the best places to fly fish in the world. Steelhead Rainbows run the rivers and the crystal clear waters ensure that all senses are stimulated in a remarkable fishing experience. And the Lake fishes all year round, so ample opportunities exist to catch fish in the catchment area.
Alternatively, with two world class golf courses in Kinloch on your doorstep and Wairakei only 15 minutes away, golf is a must here if you play the game.
And with some of New Zealand's top mountain bike and walking tracks converging in Kinloch, and fantastic white water rafting nearby, you'll soon understand why this region is a fantastic outdoor playground, and you'll be wanting to come back for more!

Beautiful home with breathtaking views.
We had a wonderful time in this beautiful, stylish and confortable home. It is incredibly relaxing with its breathtaking views of the golf course and Lake Taupo. Allistair was very accomodating and we followed his recommendations for sightseeing and tours which were very helpful. Tha landscape in this area is overwhelming, so even if you are not golfers, there are tons of things to do and see in the nearby surroundings, not to mention the relaxing moments at sunset on the wide open areas of this gorgeous home. Just wish I can come back again sometime. Thank you for sharing your home.”
This house was fantastic and our host could not have been more accommodating and gracious! ”
Thanksgiving at Dunalistair House
This was a family trip of a lifetime! Alistair went above and beyond for us to make this time in New Zealand extraordinary. The home on Kinloch Golf Club was stunning, comfortable, beautifully stocked and the perfect home for exploring the North Island. Alistair set us up with a fishing captain, Nick, who took us out on Lake Taupo where we caught 10 large trout. The only restaurant in Kinloch, The Tipsy, a family owned place cooked it up for us in incredible style and taste - we were able to share our bounty with all the locals that night. We could not give this higher marks. It was perfect all the way around. Don't miss this opportunity to see New Zealand in style! The Loomis Family, 2017”
Fabulous Dunalistair New Zealand retreat
Wonderful visit to a spectacular home and gracious hospitality by our host Alistair Tod. We enjoyed the beautiful, serene location and the home was an architectural treat beyond expectation. So grateful for the opportunity to visit and would be blessed to visit again.”
Fantastic week at Kinloch
We had a wonderful week at Dunalistair House in Kinloch. The house itself is large and with four bedrooms, each with their own ensuite, media room and large living area. We had 2 families staying and everyone had plenty of space. The house itself is located on the golf course, with lovely views across the course, to the hills and the lake. A very peaceful and serene spot. Everything you would expect was provided in the house, which was modern, clean and beautifully built. This is a fantastic location for water activities, with the lake a quick 2 min drive away. We spent the week boating, pinicing and waterskiing - which was made easy by mooring the boat in the marina at Kinloch. There are many other activities in the area, with fantastic new bike tracks around the lake. There are also many other activities in Taupo itself only 15 mins away by car. In all, a great stay, great location - we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. ”
