Wonderful setting, must visit area
Had many years since we had visited this area, and we enjoyed our visit thoroughly. The Preserve is very extensive, the Libby’s home had all of the amenities we needed, the magnificent smoky mountain parkway was adjacent, the small towns within easy had intersting attractions, boutiques and options for foodies like us. Dinner on the Preserve was a wonderful experience. We have rarely encountered as much genuine friendliness elswhere. We flew in and out of Charlotte, which in itself has many attractions for visitors like us. Many thanks for a memorable visit.”
Quiet and secluded
We enjoyed our stay in this mountain home. This is not a full service resort but the host is very responsive and helpful. It's great for someone who appreciates nature and seclusion, who doesn't need to be pampered every minute. Be prepared to drive on unpaved road quite a bit. Another tip is to have a print out of google map as a backup to GPS, and avoid arriving after dark because it is really hard to see road signs. ”
My husband and I only stayed a few days but thought the cabin was beautiful and very relaxing. The golf course was terrific. The only "negative" was no curtains in the master bedroom to block the rising sun, which if you are an early riser (which we are not) is fine. ”
Relax and Rest
If you want a beautiful mountain home in a relaxing setting but yet close to a great city, this place is it. New log home, with a great covered deck looking out to the mountains and a clubhouse with unbelievable dining. Perfect in every way. Would definitely go back! Have recommended to others too.”
Just a perfect week
Relaxing, comfortable, warm and inviting. The perfect retreat away from it all. We couldn't have had a better time both in the house and the surrounding area. These hosts really know what they're doing. ”
Perfect Mountain Retreat!
Wake up and go for an early mountain jog or go for an afternoon hike up the hills in this gorgeous community. Standing at the top of the hill and looking down at the beautifully designed golf course you can catch a glimpse of the Asheville city lights in the horizon and witness a truly special moment as the sun gives way to a calming yet illustrious night. The cabin was splendid! Extremely spacious and beautifully decorated, the pictures do not do it justice. The owner, staff and security where very welcoming. I did not get a chance to enjoy the club house, but it looked truly fantastic and tempting as I drove by a couple of times. I highly recommend a visit to anyone wanting to get away from it all and take deep breaths of fresh mountain air while a short drive away from Asheville and all of the fun things the trendy town brings!”
Perfect Fall Retreat
We just had a wonderful visit to this home situated in the private Balsam Mountain Preserve community. The home was very cozy and charming with a quality kitchen to make us feel right at home. The living area was spacious and the fire places (inside and out) were perfect for being able to enjoy the cool nights. The home has no neighbors in its vicinity but the modest person may not be comfortable with the fact that the home has no window blinds or treatments. We however thoroughly enjoyed waking up to the sun casting shadows over the mountain side. The golf course at Balsam Mountain Preserve was top notch. For local site seeing the Blue Ridge Parkway was only 10 minutes away and we took that breathtaking scenic drive all the way to the Smoky Mountains National Park. Numerous quality hikes in the area and even a couple good ones within Balsam Mountain Preserve. Asheville was an easy drive away of only 45 minutes. We highly recommend this location and home.”
An Awesome Experience
While sitting in front of the crackling stone fireplace in this beautiful home, we had no idea that a blanket of snow would be greeting us the next morning. Only an inch or so, but just enough to create a winter wonderland. Our days in Balsam Mountain and the Libby's home, were totally relaxing and invigorating. The perfect jump off spot for visiting Waynesville, a super mountain community only 15 minutes away and Asheville and the Biltmore House only 30 minutes away. A memorable time for us and our guest who were enjoying these mountains for the first time. The member host could not have been more gracious. Terry and Tillie Weaver 11/5-11/9 2010”
