A wonderful surprise
This house on the Italian coast is a gem. Lovely, beautiful pool. Linens need an upgrade for 3rd home. Well equipped kitchen. A quiet seaside town completely closed down our first week and sprang to life the second. A perfect location for sight seeing in a little traveled part of Italy.”
Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else
We had a really poor holiday experience, mainly due to the "I couldn't care less" attitude of the owner. Maria Rose responded once, in 3 lines after I chased her for an answer as to the villa's availability. The directions to the villa that we received were actually wrong. I emailed her two days before we arrived for google co-ordinates but never heard back. She sent me the name of her villa manager, Amin. He is a very nice guy but works full time so cannot give you any attention until late afternoon. He eventually called me on Saturday morning but we had already driven an hour in the wrong direction. The house was advertised as having internet- this was important to me as I was working remotely for my 2 weeks in Puglia. We arrived to find a dongle in the kitchen - you know, a wireless broadband solution that you sometimes buy when your internet service is down, or when you have just moved house. If this was not bad enough it did not work!! I screamed at the owner Maria (over text - she never picked up the phone), and Amin. He eventually came over to tell us that it had ran out of credit but was now topped up. It was not. This went until day 4! There is SKY TV in Italian but no instructions on how to switch it into English. Everything was in Italian. Eventually, towards the end of our holiday Amin showed us how to change the language on some programs. Forget watching Netflix or Apple TV because there is not enough internet bandwidth Where the villa is located is remote and not pretty. Yes, you are on the sea but it is all rocks and nothing like the beautiful beaches and charming towns near Ostuni. The nearest towns is Torre San Giovanni - it is not pretty and we did not find any really good restaurants. Gallipoli, 30 minutes away, is charming and has a beautiful old town. Other than that you need to drive an hour to Leuca or Lecce, which are both delightful. The villa itself is renovated beautifully and the gardens are sensational. What a shame about everything else! . ”
Lovely home in a Remote Area
A lovely sea view home in a remote area in the province of Lecce. The location is actually 40 minutes from the city of Lecce and a car is necessary to get to the closest town, stores or restaurants. We experienced hardship in contacting the manager and found them unresponsive. We never received any directions, instructions or check in/check out information, We had no internet, TV reception or radio for 3 days. We were able to get help from the gardener/caretaker, Iman who was very accommodating and helpful. We agree with the prior guests' comments that linens and beds need upgrading. The grounds are well kept, kitchen is large and modern but could use a supply of cooking utensils. Town of Gallipoli and nearest beach, Lido Beach are 30 minutes away. It is a change from the big city as there is no traffic in these small towns and locals are very nice and friendly. ”
This is a gorgeous house with a lovely pool and exterior plantings. My only suggestion would be to upgrade mattresses and linens for 3rd home guests. The house is in a quiet seaside village. It was closed down the first week and sprang to life the last week of April. The area was perfect for exploring Puglia, especially if you love old architecture Many different kinds of coastline. Last of April, we had perfect weather.. Very little English spoken so we really did have to learn some Italian. The local people were very kind and helpful and patient. The view of the sea is spectacular everywhere.. A special place.”
Beautiful Sip of Salt
Wonderful offer to us in 3rd home. Very modern upscale home right on the water in the heel of Southern Italy. The food, wine, and local area is hard to beat. This is a place to visit!”
