Description

Feel free to Request A Week

This three-bedroom 4,500 square foot house with pool, recently renovated yet retaining an antique charm, is in a quiet wooded setting right on the Hudson River with a spectacular view right. In the area is world class dining, mountain biking, rock climbing, summer and winter hiking, horseback riding, boating, the renown Culinary Institute of America, Hyde Park, the Roosevelt and Vanderbilt Homes, Mohonk Mountain House, Buttermilk Falls Inn and Spa, the hip college village of New Paltz, and the trendy upstate hangouts of Kingston and Beacon.

On the main floor are a giant living room with 20-foot ceilings, fireplace, Steinway grand piano, and formal dining area for 10, plus a summer living room with open kitchen and breakfast nook, all connected by brand new 50-ft deck overlooking the Hudson River and the hills beyond. Right outside the door are a 40-ft pool and a shady, green patio with comfortable lounges, umbrellas, and dining under the trees. Down below is the walkout basement, also overlooking the river, with its own fireplace, ping pong, an antique Brunswick pool table, card table, and plenty of seating and relaxing.

Upstairs on the second Floor, accessed by two convenient staircases, are the primary suite looking out onto the river through a giant picture window, a 4-poster King bed, walk-in closet, sitting area, private bath with shower, dressing counter, and small balcony (not currently for guest use). Bedrooms #2 and #3 have firm Queen beds, the same spectacular river view, and a shared bath with a tub/shower. Overflow sleeping is available in an upstairs office, and high-quality cotton linens, down and foam pillows, luxurious winter comforters, and all-cotton summer blankets are available throughout.

For your convenience and enjoyment are Asprey shampoos and soaps, wireless Internet, Apple TV with Netflix, HBO, Hulu, iTunes, and other entertainment portals; firewood, a strong mobile phone signal, complete kitchen set-ups and appliances, Japanese knives, charcoal and gas grills, garage, W/D, central air & heat, and door gates and alarms for the little ones. Smoke-free. Pet-free. Housekeeping during your stay available upon request.

The house is situated off Bellevue Avenue, which, like its name suggests, affords spectacular views of Dutchess County across the Hudson River. Two miles away is the village of Highland, a classic small New England hamlet with no Starbucks or Home Depot, perfectly situated between mountains and the river with quiet countryside all around.

5 minutes away is the Mid-Hudson Bridge and remarkable Walkway Over the Hudson, the world's longest pedestrian bridge, once the only railway connecting New England to the rest of America, but now a wide jogging, strolling and biking path spanning the river. Within sight are the Culinary Institute of America, FDR home, Vanderbilt mansion, and antique stores. Just 20 minutes away are the world-famous Mohonk Mountain House and adored Rocking Horse Ranch. And just a little farther are the hip towns of Beacon and Kingston, the U.S Military Academy at West Point, Storm King outdoor sculpture center, DIA Art Foundation and other Hudson Valley destinations. New York City is an easy, 90-minute commute from the train station, just 15 minutes from the house.

THE VIEW!

My family had a lovely time on our girls trip. We enjoyed the pool and pulled a Romona for the bedrooms. I enjoyed the kitchen and cooked dinner and breakfast. We explored New Paltz, Mohonk and the walking bridge over the Hudson. It did rain one day so we played pool and ping pong in the basement.”
