September 2018One of our best trips ever!
We have had so many wonderful stays through Third Home and our stay at Sloopside was right up there with the very best of them! The location and views of the sea and Burgh Island from every room are just incredible. We took countless photos of the sunset (we were lucky with the weather) and each one is stunning! We had the choice of walking up the Estuary, through the beautiful Devon countryside, along the South West Coastal path or even getting the sea tractor across to Burgh Island. All from right outside the front door! We hardly needed the car once we had arrived especially with the terrific Sloop Inn a few yards away and Tesco delivering all our supplies right to the door. Early evening walks around the peninsula were spectacular and the beaches were so beautiful with clean, crystal clear waters and soft, golden sand. When the wind picked up the surfing was amazing and despite the lateness in the season most of our group were able to take a dip. We did do a few trips further afield to Salcombe, Dartmouth and Dartmoor (including Buckfast Abbey) all of which were wonderful. The house itself was spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished with every small detail thought of. Fresh flowers and a homemade cake welcomed us and Mel, the local manager, gave lots of helpful advice including recommending a great local chef who prepared and delivered a wonderful buffet supper on the first night which was much appreciated after our long drive. This was definitely one of our best trips ever and we would love to be able to return to this very special place in the future. Thank you Nicci for sharing your lovely home with us! ”
