About The Round House and Bunk Room

Set at the foothills of Mount Kenya (second largest mountain in Kenya), Olepangi Farm is an authentic farmstead in Timau. Set on 90 acres, this family-run lodge offers amazing views over the natural surroundings and has a bar, and includes all meals, wine, beer and evening sundowners.

The beautiful Laikipia region where Olepangi Farm is set is ideal for hiking, horse riding and hiking. Guests can take a day trip into Samburu National Park or over to Ol Pejeta. The blue mountain pools are perfect for summer swims, and guests can enjoy massages by prior arrangement.

Olepangi Farm is 35 minute drive from Nanyuki, the Equator town.

We straddle that unique ecozone where most of the finest roses in the world are supplied to markets of Europe, grown in the wild hinterland of Northern Kenya. Five charming cottages are perched on our northern boundary, looking over the stunning 36,000-acre Ole Naishu Ranch, a working cattle ranch full of wildlife. This ranch connects with millions of acres of bush land including Lolldaiga Hills, Borana, Ol Jogi, Mpala Ranch and so on and so forth.

As you sip a morning coffee or evening sundowner, the wildlife often wander over the hills just across the valley. Our property is protected by a low-lying elephant fence.

Herds of zebra and impala, eland and kongoni, elephant and giraffe… Night falls to the sound of hyena hunting and periodically lion or leopard tell us they’re around as well!

Look north on our farm for stunning, uninterrupted long views to the Lolldaiga Hills and south for sublime views of Kenya’s iconic mountain. On clear days you can even see the full Aberdare mountain range and the Laikipia plains.

Olepangi Farm is also the home to 16-20 horses on the farm at any time. Farm and community rides can be arranged at extra cost for beginners to experienced riders. We are also avid polo players and have a bush polo pitch for afternoon chukkas or lessons. If you’re an experienced rider and you’ve never played polo before, why not give it a try?

The farm has its own organic vegetable garden and we supplement it with vegetables from our local farming neighbours. We also have a nursery for indigenous trees, part of our environmental effort to regenerate the ecology of the area.

Largest of the cottages is the dramatic Round House which has a double bedroom and bathroom plus small balcony on the second floor, and a spacious living room and terrace with lovely views on the first floor. The Round House also has its own private outdoor bathroom and perfect for an evening hot shower under the stars.

And don't forget our gorgeous swimming pool, pool house and jaw-droopingly beautiful wood-burning hot tub under the African skies. Pure bliss.
