July 2026Amazing property with great hosts!
We loved everything about the Mitchell River House property! It was so peaceful. The long horn cattle were so much fun to watch. We hiked, fished, played in the river, sat around a fire at night and had plenty of table space for family game night! It was also fun to watch the Longest Ride while sitting in the house where parts were filmed. This is definitely a place we would return to. Thanks so much to our very gracious hosts!”

September 2024Mitchell River Estate
A week or so ago, my wife, brother, cousin and their wives spend a week at the Mitchell River Estates. This property is literally a small piece of heaven. The river is the perfect trout fishing river although at the time of our visit temperature was up and fish count was low. Nevertheless, it was perfect. One 17 inch trout was caught in the pond above the fire pit. The restored century old farm house has been lovingly cared for and offers every amenity you would want. The moment we walked in we felt at home. Mr. Noah the farm manager showed us around the property. This 400 acres of the bigger thousand acre parcel is spectacular. My wife and I climbed to the top several times and returned through a beautiful ravine of magnificent untouched forest. Longhorn cattle are a real treat and the well developed fire pit gave us several evenings of wonderful relaxation and reminiscing. Obviously, we had a good time and plan to return to this beautiful area of North Carolina next summer or fall. ”

July 2022Wonderful Stay in NC Wine Country
We had a perfect stay at this home In NC wine country. This home is suited for 2 families or multi generational living as there are 2 separate living levels and one primary bedroom on the main level. The beds were comfortable and the furnishings, and linens were outstanding! I love the modern farmhouse feel of the home! The home is in a quiet setting on 400 rolling acres. The 2 longhorn cows loved the carrots that the host thoughtfully provided along with full fixings for us to make S'mores at the fire pit. The home was sparkling CLEAN including the outdoor living areas and the landscaping was professionally maintained. We loved sitting on the front porch drinking coffee listening to the river babbling. We took long walks and hikes along the river and up the hills on many trails on the property. While visiting The Dobson area we hiked to waterfalls at Stone Mountain, visited Mt Airy (Mayberry) and toured many wineries that were close by. We even attended an outdoor concert and had a wonderful dinner at Shelton Vineyards (highly recommended) Fantastic hosts with great communications! We hope to stay again- Maggie and Kenny Moyer (Topsail Island, NC) ”
