A unique property in the heart of Umbria !

We had a wonderful family week at Caidominici. The property is truly unique, with spectacular views over the Umbrian countryside and a beautiful swimming pool which became a favourite with the whole family. It is also a fantastic base from which to discover this part of Italy. We explored Pietralunga, Gubbio, Assisi, Perugia and many other beautiful villages and places during our stay and were lucky enough to experience the Palio della Mannaja (a local tournament which happens once a year) in Pietralunga. Andreea, the house manager, was extremely responsive and helpful throughout our stay, and we particularly enjoyed the wonderful meals prepared by Lucia. Thank you to James for sharing such a special family home with the ThirdHome community. We leave with some very happy memories of our week in Umbria!”

A super family trip

Having coveted Caidominci for over a decade now, it was such a treat to be able to stay with my family. This was a multi-generational trip and everyone loved what this incredible Umbrian farmhouse has to offer. We did not stray too far from the home but got into Pietralunga a couple of times, especially to pick up all the kit for making pizzas. The happiest times we had were when we were all around the pizza oven waiting for our own creations to emerge. After a little trial and error, we got the process down and they were all delicious. We would highly recommend trips to the gorgeous Montone and Lucia who whipped up a wonderful meal for us all on our last night. Thank you, James and Ailsa. It was just the type of stay we were all looking for and we have some budding Padel players off the back of it too!”

Sensational Umbria

The photos and description of Caidominici do not do this fantastic property justice. The renovations undertaken by James have created a beautiful villa that has enough features to keep the family entertained without even having to leave the property (bocce, pickle ball, tennis, crocquet, pool and more). We also loved the local towns and wineries. Highly recommended.”

Outstanding!!

I’m not sure I can adequately describe this fabulous villa but I can say that the pictures (which are very good!) don’t do it justice. It is a destination in itself so if you don’t need to be out and about every single day of your vacation, this is the perfect place to be able to relax at the property or take a day trip to the wonderful towns and villages in Umbria and Tuscany. The villa itself is stunning and the pool/outdoor kitchen and dining area/terraces are breathtaking. We altered our schedule twice just to be able to stay in and enjoy the property and the spectacular weather. I’d highly recommend having Simonetta cook for you….she’s absolutely amazing! Francesca made us feel welcome and pampered. She went out of her way to leave us a well-stocked basket of goodies so we didn’t need to run out to the grocery store on our first day. You won’t need to worry about anything because she will take great care of you and make sure you are comfortable! And finally, our gracious host James was always happy to help out and made our stay an absolute pleasure. Out of the many THIRDHOME properties we had enjoyed, Caidomenici Villa is now our favorite!! ”

Heaven on Earth

Seriously Good

We had high expectations from the photos on the website - the reality was even better. The pool is staggeringly beautiful with hotel-like surrounding poolside areas. The house is a beautifully restored stone villa that sits very comfortably within the wooded landscape. There are almost countless private interior and exterior areas to relax - and this works well with large groups. The optional extra of having a local cook from Pietralunga come to the house to cook for you is definitely a must - Simonetta was very professional and good company, quite willing to share her culinary secrets. Many thanks James and family for sharing your paradise with us!”

Great trip for the whole family

We LOVED this villa. Our time at the Caidominici villa was great for our family (10 adults), we enjoyed the place with its stunning views and the amazing dinners with the villa's italian cook - we learned how to make pizza and tiramisu. Besides enjoying the villa, the location is great for day trips (Perugia, Assisi, etc) to cities nearby and other activities (truffle hunting) that made our stay very interesting and fun. Situated in a hidden valley in an unspoiled part of Umbria, this is a beautifully renovated large farmhouse that speaks to heart, deep sense of home and perfection. Pure luxury. Absolutely Stunning

Seven of us spend the most wonderful week at the Villa in mid-May. Staying in the 300 year old home that James and his family has renovated is the most wonderful experience. Nothing has been spared in making the home welcoming and very comfortable for groups up to about 10 or 12 people. It is so well done that it can handle groups much larger than ours. The grounds are beautiful as is the view. The property is a bit remote (that is one of the beauties of the location) so rent a car and plan to do a bit of driving but it is worth it without question. The staff is wonderful, the amenities are like being in the finest hotel. A great pizza oven, super kitchen where everyone can jump in and cook or just sip a glass of wine form the "honor" wine cellar.The chef is a do not miss experience. Book her for a couple of dinners and you will not be disappointed. Simonetta is a wonderful cook and lots of fun. Franchescia manages the property for James and she know everything about the home and the surrounding area. She went out of her way to be helpful. There is even room on the property for a helicopter to land. We hired one and spent the day wine tasting in Tuscany. What a blast. The directions that James provides worked like a charm and we found the home without any trouble and were so excited to come through the gates and down the long white drive to a wonderful experience. Best 3rd home experience ever! Stunning property and location

The photos posted by James do not begin to do this incredible property justice. It has been beautifully restored, with creativity and attention to every detail. Solid wood beams and stone floors and staircases create and old world feel, while contemporary art creates a perfect balance of old and new. Most bedrooms have lovely in suite baths, beds and the antique furniture is beautiful. Towels and bedding are very comfortable. Home has a spectacular, huge, fully stocked chef's kitchen and two additional mini kitchens. The view from the infinity pool was absolutely enchanting. We stayed at the property for two of our 7 days in order to enjoy its beauty and peace. We loved the outdoor kitchen! The cook, Simonetta, was a delight and prepared beautiful, delicious, Italian meals for our group on three evenings during our visit. On other evenings we enjoyed the delicious foods unique to Umbria, including truffles and chocolate! One restaurant in Montone is especially wonderful. The property also includes a fully equipped media room with large projection TV and a tennis court. You need to be prepared however, for its rural location. To reach the main highway, the E45, it a 25 minute drive down a windy, narrow, mountain road...some roads are gravel. It took around one hour of driving to reach the major destinations of Umbria, like Assisi, Perugia, and Derutta. A grocery store is also around 15 minutes away, no walking to a corner bakery. James is an attentive owner, responded quickly to all of our inquiries, and even helped provide a private car transfer for my mother in law, to the airport in Rome, three hours away! He is easy to work with and a perfect gentleman. We enjoyed this property so much that our group is already making plans to try to book this property again! Bob and Michelle”

Absolutely Breathtaking

Caidominici is a stunning property, immaculately restored with a subtle combination of modern and rustic, oozing with style and character. We had the most wonderful time there on our honeymoon and cannot recommend it highly enough. Wonderful Vacation

Just returned from a fabulous stay at Caidominici. The house was breathtaking. Everything was first class from the lovely appointed bedrooms and bathrooms, to the kitchen, outdoor pizza oven, pool, tennis courts and numerous sitting areas with fireplaces. Amazing!

First of all, thank you so much to James for sharing his beautiful home with us! The owner was such a wonderful host I am inspired to be as thoughtful. His property manager greeted us at the house upon arrival, a beautiful welcome basket awaited us in the kitchen and James thoughtfully checked on us numerous times during the week. This home is stunning. Personally, I enjoyed all the large and small architectural and design details that clearly went into remodeling this home. The materials and colors throughout the house were fabulous. Aside from the beautiful house and wonderful Umbrian countryside, I think our favorite part of our week was enjoying the wonderful cook available at the house. Simonetta indulged us with amazing meals and even a few cooking lessons. She was delightful and made our trip extra special! We also loved the pizza oven and bikes available at the house. Best holiday at Caidominici!

Having had a full house of all ages, we all had the most wonderful, happy holiday. The house was very comfortable overlooking the superb negative edge pool and the most idyllic views we've ever seen. Rita our cleaning lady was always willing to work longer hours if we needed her and Simonetta the amazing cook and her lovely daughter cooked us delicious dinners and gave us the incredible finale party evening with her amazing pizzas! The pretty, local village was full of friendly faces who even reopened the supermarket for us and let us pay the next day. Lovely little bars for pre-dinner drinks, children playing in the village square and family restaurants with incredible views. We're already planning next year's holiday! ”

Dear All, The Villa was absolutely spectacular, everything was as promised. Gorgeous infinity pool, spectacular views and absolutely amazing gourmet food prepared daily for us by Simomitta!. The outdoor Pizza Oven where we got to make our own pizza's was my absolute favorite. The movie theater was perfect for those few rainy days. I think we had a choice of every movie ever filmed. James was an absolutely wonderful host, and has thought of every detail. We will definitely be back soon!”
