Description

Flanked by the majestic Simonsberg mountain range, this luxurious Villa on a 160 Ha working wine estate, in the picturesque Paarl/Franschhoek valley, is the ideal base to experience the Winelands of South Africa. Just an hour and 20 minutes from the centre of Cape Town, this property is also just a stone's throw away from some of the best Wine Estate's Stellenbosch has to offer; Glen Carlou, Backsberg, Vrede en Lust, Rupert and Rothschild, the neighboring Neil Joubert Wine Estate, just to name a few.

The Villa itself is surrounded by vineyards and has spectacular mountain views. The estate is well-suited to nature-lovers, offering beautiful walks through its vineyards and surrounding mountains. For golfers there are numerous award-winning courses to enjoy in the vicinity.

All four bedrooms of this magnificent double story Villa have their own en-suite bathrooms, while the reception area and open-plan kitchen lend themselves to easy entertaining , spilling out into the manicured gardens.

Dining in the area:
Franschhoek is known as the ‘Food and Wine Capital of South Africa’ and for good reason. Although the list varies year-to-year, up to 8 of South Africa’s ‘Top 100’ restaurants are based in Franschhoek! Despite its tiny size, the town boasts an incredible range of snug cafés and stylish restaurants with every style of food on offer.
A list of recommendations will be provided in the welcome pack of the villa.

We truly felt at home!

We were so happy to be back to Donkerkloof, our favourite home away from home! It's absolutely stunning here, both the view outside and the fittings inside. The spacious & well equipped kitchen and bathrooms are just devine! I can't describe it. But as soon as we stepped in the house, we right away sensed the calmness vibe. We have stayed in many big houses around the world, this one is just special! In fact, the owners of Donkerkloof are the most special couple! Thank you Lise & Jadrick for being so generous and kind to us! ”

Fabulous villa, great environment, great staff & quiet stay

dear owners, we only stayed for 4 nights, but were so sad it was so short! we enjoyed the kindness and discretion of Rachel, the organisation of Jason helping us out to recuperate some bags we had forgotten in Hermanus. The house and rooms are truly large so everyone staying enjoyed quiet moments whenever needed. We prepared a fabulous Braai in the 'in house' BBQ with the help of Rachel. During our stay temperatures were high and we managed to set the airconditioning in such a way that we could keep the house cool when the general area power was cut on some moments. This was part of a pre-election political issue, but we understood and lived with it quiet well. Thanks again. Guy and Catherine from The Olive Retreat in Pylos, Greece. ”
