Beautiful Resort but lots of issues with my room

The Resort is beautiful, and the staff was very friendly and professional. The service around the resort was very good. All the problems we encountered were with our room, the list is as follows. 1) When we arrived in our room the microwave oven was uninstalled sitting on the kitchen island with screws beside it. 2) The shower wand in the master bathroom was broken. 3) On the first night, the AC stopped working around midnight in the master bedroom. 4) No in room WiFi for the first 2 days. I had to call 4 times to get it fixed. 5) The telephones in the room did not work for the first 2 days. 6) On Thursday we returned to the room after a day trip and found water leaking from the ceiling in the hall my the second bedroom. 7) Thursday night the AC in the master bedroom went out again. 8) We woke up Friday morning to find the television service was out. Couldn't watch the Olympics. 9) I called the onsite manager, she came over, was very friendly and polite. She apologized for all the issues we had during the week and offered a $150 credit on my resort bill at checkout. Additionally, she arranged for a bellboy to pick up my family and our luggage at 4:45am Saturday morning and drive us to the taxi stand for our trip to the airport. 10) We were leaving early Saturday morning so I went to the main lobby Friday night to settle my bill before leaving in the morning and the male supervisor tried to reduce the bill credit to $100. I had to show him the text message from the female supervisor to get the $150. He was the only staff member I encountered that was disappointing. I hope our room related issues were the exception, because this is a beautiful resort. The grounds are well maintained. The raised wood walkways that run across the property are well maintained, have lights at night and are a great way to move around this vast resort. The shuttle service to move around the resort is timely and reliable. All of the staff we encountered were extremely nice, friendly and professional including the cleaning lady, the shuttle drivers, restaurant waiters, etc. Even after all the room related issues we had, my family enjoyed the resort and we may visit it again in the future. If it were not for the room related issues I would have given the resort 5 stars.”

Great stay, Love Riviera Maya!

My wife and I love it here. Vidanta is a great property, awesome pools, lots to do, and we love the Riviera Maya and Playa del Carmen area. We went to Cirque de Soleil on the property, the food was great, the service was really good, the spas were amazing. We had a few issues that made it not a perfect trip. 1. Similar to other ThirdHome user reviews, we got put in a floor level unit, and they would not put us in a different unit with a better view, even though the property did not feel very busy at all (I would really doubt that all the rooms were full). 2. The view would not have mattered much anyway, because they had tarps up everywhere the entire week. There was a recent hurricane that passed through, so that's why they had put the tarps up, but we were told they would take them down quickly, but they did not. So we never really sat on the deck of the room, because it was just covered. The hallways to the rooms also have jungle and a cool view/experience, but those walkways were also entirely covered by the tarps. It just impacted the overall feel of the stay. I wonder if they plan to leave those up through the rainy/hurricane season. 3. We felt pushed and eventually agreed to attend the "marketing presentation", which they say is NOT a "sales presentation". But it's clearly a sales presentation and lasted way longer than promised (an entire morning!). This is typical in Mexico and we were used to it. We felt compelled to do it, as they made it like, "this is why we allow ThirdHome people to stay here", so we kind of felt obligated to just do it, in hopes it would help or at least not hurt the ThirdHome/Vidanta relationship.”

Great time at Vidanta

While there were several periods of rain, we were able to make the best of our time and spend a lot of time at the pools. The food and service was excellent throughout the resort. We will return.”

Vidanta Stay

This was our second stay at a Vidanta resort. The resorts are huge, with lots of restaurants and entertainment. They require a shuttle to get around for those who aren't able to walk longer distances but they come often. It's ideal for a vacation where there is no need to leave the resort as getting off the property can take some time. The service is spectacular, the food is amazing, there are several beautiful pools. The ocean is rocky and not very deep. The water park was closed which we did not know until we got there. The golf course was also being maintained and the full course was not available every day so be sure to check those two things before you book if important. The timeshare presentation is a hard sell, probably the worst I've experienced (both resorts and I've been on A LOT of timeshare tours). Overall a great place for groups or families who want a lot of variety without having to leave the property. ”

Amazing Week at Vidanta Riviera

From the restaurant servers like Luis at the Tramonto restaurant and Abimael from Room Service to Denis from the IT Department and Cynthia, the Grand Luxxe Tower 2 Concierge, along with Jany from Housekeeping were all truly exceptional! They were equally very friendly, courteous and attentive. They greeted us with a warm welcome during each encounter. They checked on us often to make sure our vacation was going well and to see if we needed anything else. The Grand Luxxe Spa (Spatium) was also outstanding, providing relaxing massages, hydrotherapy along with sauna and steam room accommodations. The grounds of the resort were impeccably maintained and our Master Suite Two-Bedroom Villa was quite spacious. The entire staff exhibited exceptional customer service attitudes and provided stellar personal attention to ensure our visit was memorable.”

We were upgraded to a three bedroom villa and it was luxurious! The service at Vidanta exceeds expectations and the food was very good but expensive. The weather was not optimal but that caused us the relax even more. Wonderful week of unwinding!”

Wonderful vacation

The Vidanta was wonderful! The two bedroom Grand Luxxe villa’s two luxurious bedrooms/ bathrooms were so comfortable and quiet. Our balcony overlooked the jungle… giving us the feeling that we were in a secluded retreat! Yet, the resort has everything! The pools, beach, restaurants and Cirque del Soliel show were fantastic. We loved the Red Shoes Mexico band. Our only suggestion is that Pickleball should be included in the resort fee. Thank you to all the staff for the wonderful service! ”

Nice property but lots of fees

We have made many trips to the Vidanta, But it really has become prohibitive. They no longer pick you up from the airport, weekly resort fees went up, now charging a wash the dishes fee. People very helpful and nice ! Plenty of other places to go.”

Beautiful Quality Resort

The resort is well maintained. The rooms are big, beds are comfortable, furnishings are lovely inside the Villa's. There are so many excellent food choices and options however the downside of the resort is that transportation cannot keep up with demand. We stayed in the Grand Luxxe Residences and waited an extensive amount of time to be picked up to get around the resort to dinner, spa, shows etc. All in all would highly recommend this resort for a classy vacation. ”

Excellent Resort and Service

My family really enjoyed our vacation at the Vidanta Riviera Maya. The staff is very friendly and the level of service was great. The food quality at the many restaurants was surprisingly good and the condos and grounds of the resort are really stunning. I love the fact that Vidanta offers so many activities and onsite entertainment such as the Joya Cirque du Solei show (which was spectacular) as well as the water park for our kids and family to enjoy. The only negative I would say is that it is such a large resort and you need to take their shuttle carts to the different areas which sometimes you need to wait a bit for, but overall, the place is really amazing and Vidanta runs their resort very well. Also, the location is very good as it is only 30 minutes from the Cancun airport and only about 30 to Playa Del Carmen downtown. So easy access but for the most part you don't need to leave the resort to be entertained which was great for our family with all the kids.”

Mexican Disneyland

Grand Luxxe Riviera Maya is a huge resort somewhat out in the middle of nowhere. It felt like being on a cruise where everything is self contained. If you like being at a resort and not leaving for a week, this is a great place with tons of pools, shops, restaurants, activities and walking/running trails throughout the property. There was definitely a timeshare feel to the property but overall we enjoyed the trip. Likely wouldn't go back but we enjoyed it as a one off trip with our friends and family.”

Amazing!

Vidanta was amazing!!! Our group had such a good time. The staff were all incredibly nice. If we ever needed anything they were quick to help. We had a very large group and I was always impressed with how quickly we got transportation for all of us. It was also easy to coordinate. Also how well each restaurant handled our group given the size. The food was delicious, especially the beach club. That was our favorite. The resort itself is stunning. Everywhere was clean and I never saw trash. Loved all the pathways and animals. We had a great experience!!”

I love the Vidanta Riviera Maya! I try to go a few times a year. The units are large, beautiful, clean and very comfortable. The staff if always very helpful & gracious. One of my best parts is the Beach Club Pool that is open to the Grand Luxxe stays. I enjoy all parts - the service, the food, the drinks, the staff..and spend all day at the pool. ”

Good stay and break from the last year, but service not up to par

This is a difficult review to write because we love the Grand Luxxe properties and have thoroughly enjoyed our stays at them. We own with Vidanta and booked this stay as an exchange because it was quite a good deal on offer for a keyless exchange, but Vidanta has put an end to exchanges back into their properties for folks that have invested in ownership with them - keep this in mind if you attend a sales presentation as it will prevent you from taking advantage of the availability here. Our disappointment with this stay was not due to that externality, instead it just seemed that the service provided was not up to the usual standard. For example: 1. On arrival in the past, we met with the transportation provider at the airport and were promptly provided a ride to the central lobby at Vidanta in a van with other Grand Luxxe folks. This trip, we had to wait about 30-45 minutes for enough people going to all the different Vidanta tiers and crammed into a van with some folks that didn't feel terribly enthusiastic about wearing masks. We were glad for our N95s. 2. When it rained one night and we were going to dinner, our concierge said they were out of umbrellas and I should just go to the resort store, Jade, and buy one. My wife complained to the management and they eventually got us a loaner, but made us sign a deposit slip for 1,000 pesos for it that would be charged to our bill if we didn't return it. We did return it and it was not a fifty dollar umbrella, but this is not a good way to treat guests when rain is predictable there in the season - you shouldn't tell anyone they can just travel to the other end of the resort and buy an umbrella when it is raining out, you should be prepared to provide for them as a host. 3. On departure, in the past guests at Grand Luxxe were able to get taxis to the airport directly at the Grand Luxxe lobby. Perhaps because of the pandemic they have curtailed that and you have to travel to the central lobby and get a taxi there. Overall the stay was good, but not up to Vidanta's former standard for Grand Luxxe. This trip it seemed like they had severe limitations on staffing and just didn't care to make us feel like valued guests. I would think that it is all due to the current travel restrictions and labor shortages, but the other resorts we stayed at in the Cancun/Riviera Maya area this trip didn't have the same problems and were wonderful. We are hoping that our experience at Grand Luxxe Nuevo Vallarta in the coming year is better, but not planning on returning to Riviera Maya in the near future.”

Christmas Week

Our stay for Christmas week in the Grand Luxxe was nothing short of amazing. The luxurious accommodations were beautifully appointed and extremely well maintained. I can’t say enough regarding the staff that made our stay effortless and enjoyable. From the concierges in every building, to housekeeping and the restaurant staff, everyone was on point and extremely pleasant and helpful. We are already looking forward to a return visit.”

Beautiful property and beautiful resort!!! Would definitely go back again and again... The food is exceptionally good. The only 2 problems we had: 1) the property is huge....you either walk for miles and miles or you got to wait for the little golf cart to come pick you up...but they are not that frequent. 2) the resort is 40 minutes south of Cancun so every time you have to go to Cancun, it is a very expensive taxi ride.”

Beautiful Unit!!!!

We had a great time. The unit is huge & beautifully decorated with a massive private balcony & dipping pool. We spent every morning having our coffee out on balcony that was fully private with lush jungle. A few negatives is that you have to wait for trams to go ANYWHERE as the resort is huge! You get access to the Beach Club pool which is really nice but not the private grand luxxe pool as that is for owners only. You will need to get in line at around 9:30 every morning to reserve a spot at the Beach Club. They are opening Jungala water park mid June which will have the largest lazy river in Latin America...they gave us a tour and it looked amazing.....ENJOY!”
