Imagine having a private island all to yourself. Spend a wonderful week relaxing on land and in a luxury fale (bungalow) on Mandala Island.

Though you might expect that our TERRA experiences from Mandala in Tonga take place solely on land, your time enjoyed on your private island will also be filled with exciting water activities and excursions, aligned with our commitment of environmental awareness and sustainability. Your spacious and luxurious suite is just a few steps from the water for incredible snorkeling, swimming, and playing with the collection of water toys.

Spend the week completely relaxing, taking yoga sessions as available, swimming, snorkelling, diving and exploring our own tiny paradise island. Enjoy the Tongan feast and the beach party with a beautiful bonfire.

This experience is guaranteed to truly make your senses come to life! Mandala (Fetoko Island), as well as most islands on the eastern side of Vava’u, is a fossilized ancient seabed that has been pushed up from the sea floor over time. The above sea-level land is crystallized coral reef. This is a sanctuary for those of us who live here, and we invite you to share in this experience. The island urges us to relax, sustain ourselves, and to enjoy. It gives us the opportunity to be aware of our consumption and to be mindful about it.

Important Note on Whale Activities: While the humpback whales are in Tonga, TradeWinds' guests might see above the water displays from afar, though there are no guarantees of sightings. Abiding by very strict conservation and protection regulations, ALL whale activities must be with licensed operators, including whale watching and swimming. Interacting with whales is NOT possible during the days of your TradeWinds' experience - which means that all whale activities MUST be scheduled during the days before or after your TradeWinds' experience, and our team can suggest a local operator.

10 km drive and then a 10-minute boat ride. Please inform management of your flight arrival details in advance and they will send a driver, as it is a small airport without a taxi rank or Uber available.

Additional Fees

*** When you reserve this one-week Terra experience in Tonga, you will pay the designated THIRDHOME Reserve fee, as well as the all-inclusive fees to TradeWinds of US$2,095.00 per person, which includes food, alcohol, gas, captain, hosts and all other provisions and expenses included for the stay on the island and yacht activities, other than travel to and from the embarkation point and gratuities.

This fee will be paid to TradeWinds no later than 6 weeks prior to departure.

If you arrive on the flight from NAN to VAV on Saturday morning, we will have a TradeWinds-preferred taxi driver waiting for you to take you and your luggage to the check in point. Please pay the driver USD $10 or equivalent in cash per person one way. Check in opens at 11.30am at The Kraken on Fatafehi Road, just past the big white Catholic Church and across the road, down on the waterfront. The check-in point is subject to change and, if it does, the Base Manager will contact you via email in advance of your arrival.

After check in, guests can take in the sights of the marina or enjoy a meal and drink before boarding. We will meet up again at The Kraken at 4.15pm to embark on our adventures.

Seasonal whale-watching can be independently booked with a third party operator for extending your stay either before or after your Aqua-Terra sailing itinerary.

We recommend booking with our sister company, Explore Vava’u, explorevavau@gmail.com, which can also assist with accommodation options for extending your stay.

-Cancellation 120 days or more prior to departure date - we refund less a cancellation fee of US$500.
-Cancellation between 90 and 120 days prior to departure date - we refund less a cancellation fee of 50%
-Cancellation within 90 days of departure - no refund is given
