White Mountains Moose Lodge
Discover the beautiful and historic White Mountains of New Hampshire, in the uniquely delightful destination spot of Bretton Woods. With an iconic history dating back the early 1600's when sailors marveled at the white pale colors of this extraordinary mountain range (the highest peaks in the northeastern USA), and the great explorer Darby Field whose curiosity led him to first climb its 6288-ft peak that would later give its name as Mt Washington), intrigue for its natural beauty mystified everyone. Then, in the 1900's private railcars brought the elite from New York and Philadelphia desiring to escape the city for a serene vacation, and to this day, this natural jewel is still sought after by those in the know. World famous for its cog railway that leads to the top of Mt Washington, tens of thousands of adventurers come to hike, climb, ski and photograph it. The peak is part of the Presidential Range, whose peaks are named after early presidents, which merges into part of the White Mountain National Forest offering 770,000-acres of pristine paradise. Among the forests' scenic mountain passes and notches, one can find trailheads for short and longer multi-day hiking and other adventure activities - the top recommended musts are, visit to the Mt Washington Auto Museum and Gallery, its Cog Railway Transportation Site, Lost River Gorge in Kinsman Notch, the Conway Scenic Railroad, the Flume Gorge, the Hartmann Model Railroad Musem, and the Hobo Railroad of restored vintage train cars. Stroll through the enchanting village of Bethlehem, a lovely hamlet with notable distinctive arts and crafts sprinkled with Victorian and Colonial era homes. Explore the lovely historic village-town of Lancaster, the Old Man on the Mountain geological site, and the New England Ski Musuem - all worth seeing!
Tucked away within this mountain paradise is the cozy inviting Moose Lodge that sits on 32-acres bordered by the National Forest with the crystal clear Ammonoosuc River as its backyard. With private river-beach frontage and easy access to enjoy fun activities ranging from on-site river tubing, hiking and cross-country trails, boating, fishing, and fantastic wildlife viewing opportunities, this rustic luxury lodge provides guests with so many appealing features. Get spoiled from the moment you enter into its expansive Family Room with a rustic-cabin decor, gas wood stove and TV for watching favorite programs; large sliding doors allow guests to easily access the wrap-around deck showcasing incredible views or to enjoy dining al fresco. Enjoy cooking in the fully equipped kitchen with center-island, allowing guests to gather around to socialize or enjoy morning coffee together; sit for family and friends' mealtimes around the dining table as you share daily adventure stories. On the lodge's lower level there is a game room that includes a pool table, in addition to an extra kitchen for separate or additional cooking space. Relax and unwind in the extra-deep 5-person Nordic Spa hot-tub on the deck, overlooking the stunning mountain vistas! Entertain and gather in the ultimate outdoor space upon the 12-ft wide deck with a wonderful outdoor living-area that includes a covered kitchen, large bar, dining table with pergola and inviting firepit for fireside s'mores. The lovely pond and waterfall provide a calming serenity, and the perfect place to sit for a while at the end of long active days. A fun fact is that The Moose Lodge has been the chosen location for filming commercials for very famous beer brands!
Retreat to slumber in any of the lodge's five cozy bedrooms - guests can choose from a Master Bedroom located on the main level with access to the deck through huge sliding doors and featuring a log-style Queen Bed, and an ensuite bathroom with jetted jacuzzi tub and separate shower area. We had a wonderful stay at the Moose Lodge in the White Mountains. The Lodge is cozy and comfortable and well furnished. It had plenty of room for our large group. The outside patio and grill area are fantastic. Easy to have a cookout for 20 people. Our host Alex was fantastic. He lives on the property and took care of any issues we had within minutes. The Lodge has a great location within the White Mountain area for sightseeing. The Cog railway is a must and only 1.5 miles from the house. ”
