Description

Close your eyes and imagine: you, the valley and the sea. Set on a hillside in the town of Sourpi, within a natural wetland recognized by the International Ramsar Treaty, Villa Polyxena will allow guests to enjoy the magic of nature during a secluded getaway in the heart of Greece. Surrounded by cones, willows and plane trees, the very private Villa Polyxena overlooks the Pagasetic Gulf and a lovely swimming pool.

The property, which consists of a main house and a guest cottage, is set in terraced grounds dropping down to the sea, where guests are offered two jetties; a wooden one for boats to dock at and a concrete one dressed with deckchairs and a lovely shaded area with cushioned seating.

Villa Polyxena provides guests with all possible comforts with a heavenly tiny sandy beach next to the jetty, perfect for the youngest guests, while other small, shingle beaches are accessed along a footpath.

Villa Polyxena features a pool surrounded by lawn, where guests will enjoy relaxing moments on the surrounding decking area for soaking up the suns rays, with plenty of seating space for those evenings entertaining friends. Here is where guests will have the opportunity to admire the rare species of birds that migrate in the region every year, including swans and herons. Guests wishing a generous dose of adventure and sport will enjoy the offsite tennis courts, as well as the windsurfing equipment and speedboat available upon request.

Designed to follow the contour of the hill on which it is built, the air-conditioned villa offers spacious rooms, terraces and balconies galore and above all, lovely views of the water and beach 100 ft.(30m) below. With hand-made roof-tiles, whitewashed walls, wooden balconies and ceilings, and stone floors, Villa Polyxena is the perfect example of a Pelion style property in the region.

Fully secured with out-door video surveillance cameras and an alarm system, the villa offers large spaces, privacy and proximity to the sea, which make Villa Polyxena the ideal place for relaxing with family or friends. The floors are slate in keeping with the villa's design, the room is light and airy as the outdoor terraces offer different seating, eating and lazing areas for a large group of up to 12 guests.

The stylish interior décor of the villa combines simple elegance with subtle accents of comfort and luxury. While the living room with fireplace boasts a traditional corner, an ideal space for relaxation, reading and entertaining, the dining area offers guests a journey to Italy with its original Tuscan furniture. When it comes to rest, the 5 bedrooms of the main house and the 3 bedrooms of the cottage are perfectly appointed to offer utmost privacy. The Master bedroom, with a spacious California King Bed and a his/her bathroom, gives access to a rooftop balcony with umbrella and chaise-longues overlooking the sea. The seaside room consists of one double bed with ensuite bathroom. The single room includes an en-suite bathroom with shower and its private entry door. The en-suite Neptune room, featuring a double bed, has its own balcony and an outdoor sitting area with magnificent sea view. The spacious kids room with 3 single beds boasts an en-suite bathroom with bathtub. Adjacent to the main house, both the Queen room and the Twin room of the cottage benefits from an en-suite bathroom as well as their own private outdoor seating area.

This spectacular Villa Polyxena is located in a truly excellent spot, which lets guests enjoy kayaking, windsurfing, waterskiing, scubadiving, and hiking the path of Vathyolakos from Soupri to the top of Ai-Lias. A 1 hour and 40 minute drive will lead guests to Mount Pelion, a unique place to visit that is also known as the ‘Home of Centaurs’. Up the mountain, guests will me enchanted by the picturesque village of Portaria, and its traditional houses and mansions, which also offers panoramic views of the city of Volos and the Pagasetic Gulf. Climbing a little further up, guests will arrive at Makrinitsa, a preserved village also called ‘The balcony of Pelion’ for its incredible views, where to stroll through the pebble roads and discover the beautiful churches, the little fountains and the central square.

Set between two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Villa Polyxena allows guests to discover both Delphi and the Monasteries of Meteora. In a superb landscape at the foot of Mount Parnassos, a 2 hour drive from your Villa, the Archaeological Site of Delphi is charged of sacred meaning, and you will be impressed by this symbol of unity of the Ancient Greek world, where the oracle of Apollo spoke. Suspended in the air at the top almost inaccessible sandstone peaks, the Monasteries of Meteora are recognised for their major artistic achievement and one of them was used for the James Bond movie For Your Eyes Only.

Athens is a 3 hour drive from the villa where you can visit the Acropolis and other historic buildings of ancient Greece. On your way to the Syntagma Square, renown for the changing of the guards in from of the Hellenic Parliament, make a stop in front of the beautiful marble masterpiece - the Panathenaic Stadium, home of the first modern Olympics. Guests with interest for architecture and history will enjoy a walk in the old historical neighbourhood of Plaka, where you will get the feel of the Byzantine and Ottoman periods.
