December 2021Christmas week in AZ
We went for Christmas week of 2021. The house is exactly like described: large, nicely furnished, with spectacular views from the living room windows, and the golf course near by. However, we had mixed feelings about our stay as it was not a luxury experience; the stay is definitely not worth 3 keys in the winter time. We felt that no one spent any significant time in the house during the winter to notice problems with the heating system: some places were getting really hot - too hot to sleep - while others stayed completely frozen. We could not use the giant walk-in closet as we do not like frozen and musty clothes. The same applied for the master bathroom. The spa tub sounded so good, but it was not so attractive when the temperature in the bathroom was in the 40s. Even a super hot shower did not help to heat the giant space. All bathroom towels got musty, so we had to wash them all before using. Both fireplaces in the house were broken, so our idea of Christmas by a fireplace did not materialize. The beds felt uncomfortable, and we ended up buying our own pillows and bedding. We did great hikes in the area, and visited Tucson and Phoenix, so it was a good trip overall, but maybe not what we expected for 3 keys. The house would be great at any other season as cold is not normally a problem in AZ, and is definitely perfect for golfing experiences. We are not into golf, so it just was not a good match for us.”
