Nestled into the eastern corner of the Big Island is the town of Pahoa—known for its wooden boardwalks, historic buildings, and lush rainforests. Sequestered on three acres in a gated subdivision, this brand new, custom-built Pahoa home spans 2290 square feet and accommodates six guests among three spacious bedrooms. It’s designed for luxury living while being totally off the grid using solar and high-tech water catchment but still providing modern conveniences. It’s the ideal retreat when you want to unplug and unwind.

The living area bathes in natural sunlight from the double-height floor-to-ceiling windows while custom light fixtures dangle from the cedar ceiling above stylish furniture. The gourmet kitchen is well-appointed with stainless steel appliances, Garry Hoffield custom cabinetry, and an expansive island with bar seating. The space opens to the nearly 400 sq ft lanai through 16’ wide pocket doors, making indoor/outdoor entertaining a breeze.

The second floor overlooks the lofty living room and plays home to three exceptional bedrooms, each with a king-size bed. The large master suite features a luxury bathroom with double vanities, a shower with a rain shower head, and a separate soaking tub. The second-floor wood-covered lanai overlooks the backyard and offers sweeping ocean views!

Walk along the town’s 100+-year-old boardwalks to uncover beloved local farmer’s markets, craft stores, galleries, and more. Surround yourself with coconut palms and ironwood trees at Kehena Black Sand Beach, where you might even see spinner dolphins. At Kaimu Beach, hike trails of black sand until you see where old lava meets the ocean, and for a more up close and personal experience, visit the Kaumana Caves Park to descend into a massive 1881 lava-tube cave formed by Mauna Loa.

***IMPORTANT: This is a “true” Hawaiin home. While all the doors can open up, we are like a giant glass lightbox in the jungle. So doors MUST be kept closed, or the house will fill with bugs.

Also, please be mindful of the power you are using. Things like running the primary oven for hours will zap the electricity forcing the power to go out in the middle of the night.
