Description

Looking for a luxury lodge in Scotland for your friends or family? Look no further. This extremely high-end lodge in stunning Aberfeldy sleeps 8 in 4 en-suite bedrooms and offers the opportunity for the most exquisite family holiday.

I’m trying to pull together an inspiring and engaging introduction for The Lodge at Dun Aluinn but I think the images of the property are inspiration enough. This place is sublime!!!! Dun Aluinn has been featured in almost every internationally renowned interiors and travel magazine going. Every single little corner and detail is utter perfection and the newly renovated Lodge (2021), which sits close to the house, is no exception. The Lodge can be rented independently of the house, or together for larger groups of up to 26 guests. It has its own private entrance, private parking and separate garden grounds from the main house. The team at Dun Aluinn have thought of everything, and a private chef, housekeeping and activity planner is available should you require a full-service package. I guess this is what happens when an internationally successful interior designer marries a first-rate builder, together they create total alchemy. Also, I think it’s fairly obvious this is not their first major project - they’ve been meticulously and painstakingly honing their skills on other high-end exclusive properties in the area for a long time now, so this is the jaw-droppingly gorgeous culmination of their life’s work so far. Susie is the architect/designer who has worked in San Francisco, New York and Ireland - so brings a wealth of experience and an international feel to Dun Aluinn Lodge. John runs a building company based in Crieff, where they specialise in renovating old and listed buildings in Scotland www.corryard.com. They have a real passion for high quality workmanship and finishes, which is so rare in this world of knock-em-up properties for maximum gain. My opinion is that John and Suzie are artists, and I feel as if their love of art comes before thought of their profit margins on every build. They push really hard to make the aesthetic world class, and this absolutely is! When John was renovating an old school in nearby Blairgowrie and it was certain that the original wooden floorboards could not be used, they were carefully taken out and put in storage. They now sit resplendently on the floor of the Lodge. It’s this kind of arduous additional labour that has gone into every detail of the Lodge. Seemingly simple, elegant beauty actually takes a LOT of time, money and skill. It sounds like the kind of craftsmanship of a bygone era. THE DETAILS - There are 4 bedrooms all with en-suite bathrooms, 2 have king size beds and 2 have super king size beds - The Lodge is superbly detailed throughout with luxurious bathrooms and finishes - Large built-in feature fire place in the lounge area - Beautiful open plan dining kitchen - Large decking area at the front of The Lodge with sweeping views across the valley and towards the River Tay - There is a fire pit area, stylish seating with cosy throws and outside dining table for eating alfresco - A wild Scottish flower meadow has been planted in the field where The Lodge is situated - You are a short walking distance from the town of Aberfeldy and numerous gorgeous shops and cafes, a few good pubs, a wonderful bookshop and art deco cinema - There is an excellent array of activities on the doorstep such as hill walking, mountain biking, canoeing and paddle boarding, fishing and a Dewar’s whisky distillery - Bike and golf club storage is possible if required - Ideal for families and groups of friends THE SERVICES The Lodge operates as a self-catering property, however, the team behind Dun Aluinn are adept at adding on wonderful services such as: - Catering by the wonderful Ballintaggart Farm (Michelin Guide 2020 & 2021). Fully catered and part catered options available. Almost everything they serve up has low food miles and is fresh sourced or locally grown including the organic veg, wonderful meats and cheeses, freshly bakes breads and cakes. They also run a cook school, which might be a fun activity to add on. - Concierge services and access to unique Highland Experiences designed specifically for the Dun Aluinn Estate - Private airport transfers - Full housekeeping, turn down and laundry service THE LOCAL AREA - 90 mins drive from both Edinburgh and Glasgow airports - 5.5 acre estate, within short walking distance (600m) of Aberfeldy - Amazing walks directly from the house – including the famous Birks of Aberfeldy and Schiehallion - Aberfeldy and the surrounding area is a wonderful part of Scotland to explore, think postcard perfect little villages and beautiful wide open Scottish countryside with mountains, lochs and rivers. As well as cosying up in the local cinema or bookshop, there are some wonderful outdoor activities that can be arranged from guided walks, fishing, Highland Safari, white water rafting, canyoning, kids outdoor adventures and so much more.

Beautiful stay at The Lodge at Dun Aluinn

We could not recommend this place more highly. The lodge is finished to a very high level. Beautiful fixtures and appliances. Breathtaking views to amazing highland walks right on your doorstep. A short walk to the very friendly Aberfeldy. Try dinner at The Three Lemons and a trip to The Birks cinema ! All the staff at the lodge were super friendly and helpful. Great location for exploring. We tried white water rafting and paddle boarding in the River Tay locally. Also visited Glen Coe and Oban on the beautiful west coast and historic Dundee on the east. Both easily drivable. Really hope to visit again. Paul and TJ ”
