Description

Sky Glider | Private mountain cabin near Asheville

Spend a getaway exploring North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountain region!

Perched at a 3,000-foot elevation, this four-bedroom, two-bathroom cabin was aptly named Sky Glider because you’ll feel as though you’re gliding suspended in the mountain ridges. Located just 30 minutes from Downtown Asheville and 20 minutes from both Black Mountain and Chimney Rock, Sky Glider places you in an idyllic position to enjoy the region’s postcard-perfect landscape and notable area attractions, which include everything from acclaimed breweries and cideries to a flourishing arts scene and, of course, adventurous outdoor pursuits.

This custom-built mountain cabin is secluded on 17 acres along the ridgeline and offers views of Mount Mitchell in the distance and the glow of Black Mountain at night. Inside, this 1,750 square foot gem uses a modern Scandinavian design with subdued decor, natural materials, and gentle hues to keep from drawing attention away from the gorgeous landscape showcased through its floor-to-ceiling windows. The main living area is set under vaulted ceilings and radiates a welcoming hygge that will make you and your guests feel right at home, whether you’re relaxing in the living room or cooking in the kitchen. Best of all, it comes equipped with modern amenities like a Klipsch Bluetooth speaker and Keurig and Cuisinart coffee makers. So, open the doors to the back deck, crank up the tunes, and sip your coffee while admiring the beauty of the mountains.

Sky Glider features four lovely bedrooms split between two levels. On the first floor are two spacious primary bedrooms, both with access to the screened-in back porch; one has a king memory foam mattress, and the other has an ultra-comfy queen Casper mattress. There is also a large downstairs bathroom with a walk-in shower and dual vanity. As you make your way to the second floor, you’ll find an amazing furnished loft that looks straight out the windows to the magnificent mountain views beyond. It’s appointed with a plush sectional sofa and TV, plus a large table, as well as a variety of games, DVDs, and vintage VHS movies. The remaining two bedrooms are just past the loft; one features a queen DreamCloud mattress, and the other has two twin beds. Another full bathroom rounds out the second floor.

With a serene location among the rolling hills and mountaintops, it’s only fair that this remarkable cabin offers multiple outdoor living spaces to promote your connection with nature. The screened-in porch is perfect for a cozy afternoon with a cup of tea and a good read. It’s also a great spot to play cards at night while enjoying a drink or two. But, if you can’t get enough of those heart-stopping views, then the back deck will be your go-to oasis for every stripe and season. Picture yourself basking in the summer sun, admiring the fall foliage, dining under the stars, or gathering around the gas fire bowl on a calm, chilly night.

If you can dare to pull yourself away from the tranquility of this cabin, we promise nearby Asheville will not disappoint. Just a hop, skip, and a jump away, the free-spirited city of Asheville and its beloved downtown offer an eclectic array of art galleries and shops, microbreweries, farmers’ markets, live music, and a thriving culinary scene. Although perhaps its most famed attraction is the 8,000-acre Biltmore Estate, where visitors can tour George W. Vanderbilt’s historic 250-room Châteauesque-style mansion, 75 acres of beautifully manicured gardens, and the nation’s most-visited winery. And while all of these sights and sounds are indeed bucket list-worthy, we would certainly be remiss if we failed to highlight the exciting outdoor activities the Blue Ridge Mountains afford. With over one million acres of protected wilderness, there are endless opportunities to uncover, including hiking through Blue Ridge Recreation Park, peddling through the bike paths of North Carolina Arboretum, discovering waterfalls at Chimney Rock, or kayaking along the French Broad River!

The views were incredible!

Sky Glider is exactly as described but the views were really spectacular and beyond the description. The house was fully stocked and comfortable and the owners had thought of everything. We found lots to do in the area too and Asheville is super close for wonderful restaurants. Would recommend!”

Great place!

The cabin is just as pictured. That location is great because it is close to Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway. The hosts were very responsive to our request at the home is equipped with everything you need. We really enjoyed your stay!”
