This 3,600 square foot, luxury, vacation home is nestled in the Smoky Mountains on Lake Nantahala in beautiful North Carolina. Lake Nantahala is nestled in the Nantahala National Forest at 3000 feet.
The Lake has 42 miles of shoreline with pristine crystal clear waters. It is also known as one of the top fishing lakes in the Southeast. Walleye, Lake Trout, Brown Trout, Bluegill, Crappie, Small Mouth and Large Mouth Bass are plentiful in the lake. Trout fishing in the Nantahala River is excellent as well for fly fishing or spin casting.
Our two-story home features lake views from all rooms as well as covered decks on both levels. There is a great room on each level and a game room with a video arcade game, ping pong, and air hockey tables. A gradual terrain walkway leads to a floating boat/swim dock. Boat rentals are available at a nearby marina or you can bring your own boat and dock it at the house.
Lake Nantahala is the second highest lake east of the Mississippi River and is beautiful in summer, spring, fall, or winter. Lake Nantahala was mentioned as one of the top ten cleanest man made lakes in the world. And because only five percent of its shoreline can be built out, the lake is not crowded and you’ll enjoy the true beauty of the lake and mountains.

Three families were able to enjoy this very comfortable and well-appointed lake house. The owner Tammie, was incredibly gracious, offering up recommendations for activities, restaurants and must-sees for the area. We happened to be arriving on the day Fred was passing through so we arrived late in the evening and the other two families chose to drive in the following day when the weather was more forgiving. Knowing that the storm was coming, Tammie offered to have us move or extend our trip to allow us the best possible experience. While we were unable to take her up on the offer, we were able to extend our checkout by a few hours which was immensely helpful. The house is beautifully situated on a quiet end of the lake. The water is clear and calm and we were able to enjoy the peace and quiet. The home is aptly named Sweet Serenity. I highly recommend this home to anyone looking for an escape from the bustle of daily life. ”
Our family including three young adults enjoyed the most relaxing week at this fantastic lake house in the western NC mountains! While the home is remote, there is no cell phone coverage, wifi which does not accommodate streaming and no resturaunts to speak of....it was one of our best family vacations ever!!!! We had a boat which is highly recommended, rentals to your private dock are available. We all unplugged and the kids relived their childhood by water skiing, tubing, kayaking, fishing amnd canoeing. Lots of books were rewad. 100's of hands of cards played, monopoly tournaments played and epic air hockey & ping pong tournaments! The home is beautifully appointed, photos do not do it justice. We packed enough food for gourmet cooking 3 meals a day and rarely left the house other than by boat! I think "kids" of all ages would enjoy. Also couples on a get away. We definitely plan to return. The hosts are fantastic and very accommodating! ”
