March 2024Air B n B
This was sadly our very first third home experience and I am keeping my fingers crossed they are not all like this . This Venetian townhse is an air B n B ( advertised to sleep x6 but suitable for x 2 people ) . It lacks tlc . Looks great from the pics and has comfy beds / pillows but that’s as much positivity that I can drum up . We have been to Venice many times and have never noticed that drains smell with the tides as did this home . There is nowhere to sit comfortably . There is an ancient uncomfortable sofa bed in the sitting room where there is the one and only dehumidifier ( which we emptied despite no instruction booklet at the house ) . There are spores from damp on the container that has the bed linen on the ground floor . I became unwell with an autoimmune reaction after staying 12 hours . My friend who stayed for x 2 nights became very unwell with an exacerbation of her asthma . Our friends departed hurriedly for far superior accommodation . This was embarrassing to say the least . My husband also became unwell and curiously enough in the guest book there x 2 sets of guests had written they HATED the place and had become ill . I would be beside myself with embarrassment had a guest written that at ours Ergonomics have not been thought out . Our eldest is an architect and we buy / gut / sell so we know good deign when we see it . It has been renovated by a cow boy builder and we received small electric shocks when we touched the hob or sink . My husband broke a toe when he opened the chest on the ground floor and it fell on him . There are dangerous corners on the worktop in the kitchen plus terrible tin chairs to sit on . This place is unsuitable for the disabled / not able bodied as the stairs to the top bedroom / bathroom are extremely steep and positively dangerous . You cannot self cater easily as the place lacks basic kitchen tools like a cheese grater / garlic crush . Most worrying was the fact the owner wanted us to pay 175 euros to the cleaner to launder x 1 extra sheet / x 2 pillow cases that I had already washed and ironed as our guests required fresh bedding . The owner was gracious about us losing her front door key for which we left 10 euros . There was also a miscommunication regards where to leave rubbish and in our haste to get to the airport we foolishly left a few bags for the cleaner to dispose of as this is what the owner had said to do . We have never done this before nor lose a door key but fatigue due to sleep deprivation / poor health scrambled our brains 🧠…. Thirdhome have been informed and are apologetic but it’s only reviews by travellers that are open and honest and transparent that tell the whole story . Beware . ”

January 2024A little gem
This property was very comfortable and located in the very peaceful Dorsoduro section of Venice. A nice little grocery store a few doors down. Most importantly, the host was so helpful pre arrival !”
