Description

Kaitiaki Lodge

Set on ten acres of native Waiheke Island bushland, this luxury Waiheke Lodge offers a refreshing stay for family and friends. The word kaitiaki means guardianship in Māori. Māori have always understood that we don’t own property or land; instead, we are the custodians of it during our time here. We are privileged to share this beautiful piece of New Zealand with you.

Kaitiaki Lodge offers five large bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, two living rooms, a home office, a swimming pool, a hot tub and a private, 20-minute nature walk. Upon entering the lodge, you are greeted by a stunning interior with sustainable materials. The interior fuses dark natural tones with a huge amount of light coming from the floor-to-ceiling windows at the front of the house.

The kitchen has state-of-the-art Fisher and Paykel appliances, induction and gas hobs, a large fridge freezer and an espresso machine.
A carefully considered bar area and large kitchen island give you a great social space that flows into the rest of the living room.

A sizeable custom-made dining table seats ten comfortably, and the bespoke wrap-around sofa takes advantage of the magnificent views over the native bush and the ocean beyond. Outside the living area is a large entertaining deck with lounge furniture, huge automated awnings to keep the sun off and a fireplace to keep you warm on colder nights.

You reach another large lounge area downstairs with a comfortable, bespoke sofa and a large smart TV. In this area, you will find a wet bar with a fridge freezer – perfect for preparing your poolside cocktails. You’ll also find the laundry area with a washer and dryer. The pool deck is nestled into the native forest, where the 9-metre Heated Pool and Cedar Hot Tub complete your Kaitaiki experience.

  • Golf
  • Hike
  • Shopping
  • Watersports
  • Wine Country
  • Many great Kiwi artists have called Waiheke home at some point in time and a good number reside there still. The great thing about this is that their art can be seen and appreciated from one side of the island to the other.
  • There are a number of well-signed and increasingly popular cycling trails/mountain bike tracks on Waiheke.
  • If you’re into your water sports or have an interest in trying then the prospect of jet skiing may appeal.
  • If you’re into water sports that are a little more easy-paced then jet skiing, kayaking and/or paddleboarding are a good compromise.
  • One of the more unique experiences you can have on Waiheke is to visit one of their Olive Groves

Places of Interest

  • Sculpture Park. The park is a great way to spend a few hours with a 2km track that showcases over 30 sculptures.
  • Whakanewha National Park. The park is an area of mature coastal native forest with a network of walking tracks (the longest of which is 2.5 hours) to explore.
  • The beaches on Waiheke Island are amazing and have probably been the biggest drawcard of visitors to the island over the years.

Stunning native bush retreat with gorgeous views

We had a wonderful week in this beautiful home, very private, amazing native bush setting, stunning views, warm, and a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the serenity. Fantastic host. Couldn't recommend the lodge more highly. Thank you so much for the best stay!”
