March 2026As Quiet as you please
With free bikes from Blue Zen, we rode to The Split, Bliss Beach, or explored; the roads are not crowded. Using their free kayaks, we paddled to the other side of The Split for a great frozen mango margarita at Sip ‘n Dip. Anytime, we could go for a short walk and go for breakfast at Peach on the Beach, ( for one!) dinner at The Happy Lobster, or just venture a few yards, to one of three eating/ drinking places on the water or near the pools right beside us. There is a ferry at the Split to take a rented golf cart across to experience the hustle and bustle of the Village, go to dinner, feed the tarpon, or shop. Or it’s easy to take Blue Zen’s complimentary shuttle from the dock in front to the south ferry dock, then walk or accept the offer of the golf cart companies there to show you that side of Caye Caulker. Alex with Go Slow golf cart rental was excellent. This is also where the ferry docks from Belize Express Water Taxi, which has routes to other islands or the mainland. Bradley’s Taxi, arranged by Blue Zen to pick us up from Caye Caulker Airport was great, too. A wealth of information! He was also willing to do tours of either side of the island. But visitors at Blue Zen can easily explore the north side on their own…a highlight being Bliss Beach. Go without food or drink, as they have all of that, plus shade areas and access to the beach and warm water without sargassum. Unfortunately Blue Zen and others on the east side had to deal with this situation earlier than usual ( it’s coming across the Atlantic). But it didn’t hinder our kayaking nor our pool times. Terri & Dean’s second floor condo faces east, the beach, and a few feet from two pools, two restaurants and a store. The filtered water, automatically dispensed in the fridge, along with the bathrooms, was great, as was the ice maker using filtered water in the freezer. Laundry facilities in suite, smart TV’s, and kitchen appliances were great; but bring coffee pods, as only a few are supplied. There are other eating and drinking places on the north side I haven’t mentioned which are worthwhile, too. Each visitor should decide their favourites… A holiday at Blue Zen can mean peace and quiet, if that’s what you desire. Or you can easily go to the Village and enjoy more action around you. The contrast is stark. But all is beautiful and fun!! ”

April 2024Blu Zen - Caye Caulker
Great stay at this resort. I flew from Belize City to Caye Caulker and the resort arranged for my taxi from the airport to the Blu Zen boat that took me to the resort. Once we arrived, we were met at the dock with refreshing towels and welcome drinks. The staff is very friendly. My 2 bedroom /2 bath unit was on the 2nd floor and was well appointed, clean and spacious. The living room /kitchen had 3 sides of windows facing the spectacular ocean view. The resort has 3 pools, 2 restaurants, and a grocery store on site. There is beach volleyball, kayakers, bikes and other games, balls and supplies. The restaurant food was good and they had daily happy hour food and drink specials. I only ate at the Lotus restaurant & bar; however, there was another restaurant that had wood fired pizza and other food. Blu Zen is on the north side of the island. It’s quieter on the north side and there are less restaurants; however there is a free boat shuttle that runs quite frequently from the resort to the south side of the island. There’s a couple of restaurants on the north end of the island that will pick you up. Caye Caulker is a small island. There are some great tours for snorkeling, diving, fishing, or back to Belize City for cave tubing or seeing the ruins. It’s a great island for relaxing. You can also take a ferry to San Juan / Ambergris Caye. ”
