Description

Found within the scenic countryside of the Dordogne region in France, Château de la Poujade is a testament to history, architecture, and
tranquillity. Once one of the largest Carthusian monasteries, this majestic 10-bedroom castle opens doors for an unforgettable experience with friends or family, accommodating up to 20 people.

The exterior of the Château is a testament to the passage of time and generations. The park, planted in 1896 by Lord Greenwell and his wife Emma Maire, boasts a majestic avenue of Lebanese cedars leading to the central courtyard. A three-hundred-year-old vine graces the railing of the east terrace, while a large terrace adorned with ancient trees provides panoramic views of the Dordogne valley.

The grounds also feature a heated 13m x 7m swimming pool, surrounded by a teak terrace and two additional terraces equipped with plancha, tables, chairs, and parasols.

Inside, the Château exudes a timeless charm. The main body houses the living spaces, while the wings host stables, an orangery, and cellars. The interior retains its exceptional character, with vaulted ceilings, pilasters, columns, and majestic Louis XIV fireplaces creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The property is equipped with surveillance cameras.

The ground floor accommodates three double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and two WCs. The first floor boasts seven unique bedrooms, including the Lemon Tree Room with lemon tree furniture, the Cèdre room with the possibility of two single beds, and the Bamboo Room with a distinctive boat bed. The fully equipped kitchen, dining room, and vaulted lounge on the ground floor provide ample space for gatherings, meals, and relaxation.

La Poujade's location is ideal, situated between 10 and 30 minutes by car from the most beautiful and iconic sites in the region, including the castles of the Dordogne Valley and the caves of the Vézère Valley. In the nearby village of Urval, guests can explore a 12th-century church and a 14th-century communal oven while enjoying the tranquillity of this unspoiled setting.

Chartreuse de la Poujade invites guests to step back in time, immerse themselves in luxury, and create cherished memories in the heart of the French countryside.
