Lake Geneva House

5-15 Keys 3 Bedrooms 6 Guests 2 BathsView Amenities

Description

Situated between the two historic medieval villages of Nernier and Yvoire and 12 miles (20km) away from Geneva city centre, this Lake Geneva House has a special and unique take on the traditional lake house, perfect for guests who want to swim from its private grassy beach into the biggest lake in Europe and fill their days with sensational activities.

The entrance, 49 ft (15m) away from the lake, opens to a marvellous drawing room and mezzanine salon with a comfy lounge area that lay under a remarkable historic hand-made wooden roof built by Les Compagnons de France who repair Cathedrals and chateaux, that will immerse you in lavish French rustic style.

The kitchen is fully equipped with state-of-the-art appliances and is next to the dining area; the house is decorated with antique furnitures and large windows that have views of the lake and the forest that surrounds the property.

In summer, the Lake Geneva breeze (les « thermiques ») keeps the house cool and at the ideal temperature for guests to sleep comfortably at night. All rooms provide stunning views, be it of the forest behind the property, of the private lake beach or the lush, green garden.

The garden will immerse you in the French lake-house experience as it has an opening that will lead guests directly to the lake, as well as a stone terrace, perfect for relaxing or for entertaining guests.

With Mont Blanc being an hour away, this lake house provides the ideal sporty ambiance! Skiing, hiking, canoeing, swimming and hiking are all possible in the nearby mountains and surrounding areas.

Europe's largest lake, Lake Geneva (Lac Léman), runs through the heart of Geneva, a unique city considered the center of diplomacy, as it is home to over 20 international organizations, such as the International Red Cross and the United Nations. With its thriving local life, nestled between the lake and the mountains, the city is rich in history, where different cultures meet and interact. While strolling around the avenues and the streets during your visit, the overall sensation you get is that Geneva combines an old-world charm, with an international elegant and understated way.

Spend some time discovering Geneva’s many cultural institutions, which include maison Tavel medieval historical museum, museums on watchmaking, ethnography and particle physics at CERN, and the iconic Geneva’s water jet, the largest in Europe, visible as you fly over the city. Or visit more mainstream Geneva highlights, with its mechanical clocks and bells; the delightful botanical gardens and conservatory near the Palais des Nations, or the Bâtiment des Forces Motrices, a theatre housed in a striking former hydroelectric-power station near the point where the River Rhône flows westwards out of the lake towards Lyon.

Sightseeing in the neighbouring villages of Yvoire and Nernier will transport guests to a medieval world shrouded in nature and impressive feudal castles. Located on the shore of Lake Geneva, between Geneva and Evian, guests can explore the flowery medieval village of Yvoire, one of the most beautiful villages in France. Often nicknamed the ‘gem of the lake’, you will not miss the occasion to visit Yvoire medieval Garden of Five Senses, classified ‘Remarkable Garden’ and invites you to a poetic discovery of the plants.

The neighbour town of Nernier, a pretty village that stretches along the lake, has welcomed fishermen and boaters for more than two centuries and has preserved its architectural character with a museum, potter, gallery; you will be able to taste traditional French cuisine in the restaurants by the beautiful lakeside port.
