October 2024Comfortable, Relaxing Retreat
Simmer Down provided an ideal setting for a quiet, relaxing retreat. Furnishings were clean and comfortable. Kitchen was well-supplied. The screen porch was my favorite place to be to read, nap, and eat. The firepit provided an exceptional atmosphere for a quiet evening. The owner was very helpful and response to any question we had was timely. The clubhouse restaurant was closed for remodeling during our stay, which meant we had limited choices nearby for eating out. We suggest stocking up and eating at home using the well-equipped kitchen. Big Canoe is a remote area and navigation can be challenging. However, the setting is worth it, whether one is a hiker, golfer, or someone who just likes the out-of-doors. Highly recommend.”
