Description

Great Northern Mountain Escape

Set against the dramatic alpine backdrop of Whitefish, Montana, this extraordinary private estate offers an immersive experience where refined luxury meets the untamed beauty of the Northern Rockies. Spanning approximately 8,600 square feet and designed to host up to 24 guests, the residence was envisioned as both a sophisticated mountain retreat and an exceptional venue for gatherings, celebrations, and multi-generational escapes.

Surrounded by sweeping forest, lake, and mountain vistas, the home reflects a thoughtful collaboration between Studio Winterich and Julia Katrine Designs. The architecture balances contemporary elegance with Montana’s rugged character, featuring soaring ceilings, expansive glass walls, and natural materials that frame the surrounding landscape. Every room is positioned to capture breathtaking views, from glowing alpine sunsets to tranquil mornings over the forested valley.

At the heart of the estate lies the magnificent great room and chef’s kitchen, designed for grand entertaining and effortless connection. Double kitchen islands provide generous space for preparation and gathering, while professional-grade appliances, double ovens, and abundant seating make hosting seamless for large groups. The adjoining living area is anchored by a dramatic wood-burning fireplace, with panoramic windows drawing the outdoors inside and creating a warm yet sophisticated gathering space.

Seven beautifully appointed bedrooms provide luxurious accommodations for guests, blending boutique-hotel comfort with the privacy of a mountain lodge. Several suites feature California king beds, spa-style en suite bathrooms, and tranquil views across the surrounding landscape. Three custom-designed bunk rooms offer imaginative and comfortable sleeping arrangements ideal for families or larger groups, with built-in cubbies, reading lights, and thoughtful design details. Altogether, the bedroom configuration ensures a harmonious balance of private retreats and shared spaces.

Beyond the sleeping quarters, the estate unfolds into a variety of gathering spaces designed for both lively entertainment and quiet relaxation. A spacious teen loft opens directly onto the deck and outdoor hot tub, creating a playful retreat for younger guests while maintaining easy access to the home’s main living areas. The game room and bar form the social heart of evening gatherings, featuring billiards, table tennis, a full wet bar, beverage refrigeration, dishwasher, and an impressive wine cellar, perfect for unwinding after a day exploring Whitefish.

For those seeking a quieter moment, the Zen living room offers a serene sanctuary within the estate. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame expansive views of forest and lake, while soft textures, meditation cushions, and yoga mats invite peaceful reflection or morning practice in a calm and restorative environment.

Outdoor living is equally exceptional. A covered outdoor lounge extends the home’s living space into the surrounding wilderness, allowing guests to relax beside an impressive gas fireplace while taking in the crisp mountain air. Multiple decks offer dining areas, lounge seating, and spectacular sunset vantage points, while the hot tub provides a soothing retreat beneath Montana’s famously star-filled skies. The expansive grounds create a sense of privacy and tranquility rarely found so close to Whitefish’s vibrant town center and Big Mountain adventures.

Whether visiting during the snowy winter ski season or the golden warmth of Montana summers, the estate provides a perfect base for experiencing the region’s year-round beauty. Guests may spend their days skiing the slopes of Whitefish Mountain Resort, boating or paddleboarding on nearby lakes, hiking through alpine forests, or exploring the charming shops, restaurants, and galleries of downtown Whitefish.

With its grand architectural scale, curated interiors, panoramic natural views, and exceptional spaces for gathering, this remarkable Whitefish estate offers a truly elevated mountain experience, one where wilderness and luxury exist in perfect harmony.

Stunning

This 8000 square-foot home was more than we needed for the two of us. The location is perfect! We got to go to glacier Park every day. This house is absolutely stunning and so well designed. It is just amazing to look at every room and it’s beauty. It was nice to have good communication with the wonderful host and the property management company. Thank you so much for letting us stay in your beautiful home.”
