May 2026Exploring Georgia's Lake Country
Lake Oconee Escape was the perfect home base for exploring Georgia's Lake Country. We are from the Altanta area and this was the perfect vacation place that was just a short drive away. We were 2 couples and the arrangement of 2 full suites on the first floor was perfect. We used the upstairs loft as a quiet office space when needed. Everything was just as described in the property details. The very large screened in porch was the center of our activity. We had almost every meal on the porch and enjoyed quiet time reading, enjoying coffees or cocktails and listening to the birds and taking in the beautiful scenery. Even when it rained a little, we were comfortable on the porch. We brought our pet and enjoyed many miles of walking along the lake path and the quiet community roads. For activities, we rented a pontoon boat for the day; we visited the Georgia Safari and Conservation Park, the Ritz-Carlton, and the Uncle Remus Museum; we shot sporting clays at the Old Hudson Plantation; we had lunch and ice cream in the cute town of Madison; and we played dominoes and watched movies at night. Jennifer was very responsive and made sure that we were settled in and had everything we needed. We did not choose to go to any local restaurants though Jennifer provided a comprehensive list of recommended eateries. The kitchen had everything we needed for preparing meals and there is a nice gas grill to use. Everyone that we encountered in Great Waters was so pleasant - we will definitely come back to visit the community again. ”
