Historic Cooperstown Retreat with Modern European Luxury
11 guest occupancy for April-October if you want to use Main House and Pool House.
8 guests occupancy for November-March only in Main House.
Set on a rolling hillside in the peaceful enclave of Pierstown, just minutes from the heart of Cooperstown, this extraordinary estate is where timeless European craftsmanship meets Scandinavian elegance. Hawk Field House and its guest Pool House form a one-of-a-kind retreat, so distinctive that it graced the cover of Architectural Digest in March 2025. Combining 19th-century heritage with sleek modern expansion, the property radiates refinement, serenity, and artistry at every turn.
The main residence, originally built in the early 1800s, has been fully reimagined by Danish owners whose design sensibility brings a sense of calm sophistication throughout. The home’s 2023 addition introduced a magnificent great room and kitchen, an architectural masterpiece of clean lines, custom wood cabinetry, and cascading stone countertops. Expansive picture windows frame breathtaking valley views, flooding the interiors with natural light. Above, a cozy loft sleeps two, while below, a luxurious full bathroom and airy dining space create a gathering area that feels both modern and warm. Step outside to the bluestone patio and dine beneath the covered pergola, where a wood-fired pizza oven and gas grill await for alfresco evenings surrounded by nature.
Every room in Hawk Field House tells a story. The former kitchen now serves as a secondary service area and laundry room, making entertaining effortless. Beyond it, a bright home office opens through French doors to an exquisitely landscaped garden, where every plant and sculpture feels intentionally placed in harmony with the landscape. The adjacent room, once a formal dining area, now features a ping-pong table for family fun, while the intimate living room invites relaxation with a wraparound sectional and a Samsung Frame TV that seamlessly doubles as wall art.
Upstairs, three serene bedrooms continue the home’s fusion of art and function. The primary suite features hand-painted murals, a king bed, custom built-ins, and an ensuite bath with spa finishes. Another bedroom is lined with shelves of literary classics and a hidden TV, while the third offers a cozy twin bed and access to a bathroom where even the shower overlooks the rolling hills. Whitewashed, wide-plank floors and minimalist furnishings create a tranquil contrast to the home’s historic bones, emphasizing the Scandinavian love for light, texture, and calm simplicity.
Outside, the fenced-in pool area is a sanctuary of its own. Surrounded by bluestone and furnished with comfortable loungers, it invites guests to bask in the sun or cool off after a day of exploring Cooperstown’s charming village. Here, the main house meets the property’s second jewel, the Hawk Field Pool House.
This luxurious guest retreat mirrors the same European design ethos as the main residence. Its open-concept interior features a queen canopy bed draped in fine linens, a sitting area with elegant furnishings, and tall French doors that open directly to the pool terrace. The kitchen, complete with high-end appliances and a breakfast bar overlooking the countryside, is perfect for intimate mornings or sunset appetizers. The bathroom feels like a spa, with teak flooring, a rainfall shower, and a tranquil reading nook that invites slow, quiet moments. A private patio with a grill and dining set offers yet another spot to enjoy the sweeping views.
Together, the main and pool houses create an extraordinary estate that feels both curated and lived-in, a modern pastoral escape wrapped in luxury. It’s a place where one can sip espresso beside original sculptures in the morning, swim under open skies in the afternoon, and dine by firelight while gazing across the valley at dusk. For travelers seeking elegance, artistry, and complete serenity in the heart of Upstate New York, Hawk Field House is not simply a destination, it’s an experience of beauty, balance, and timeless design.
***Pool House is seasonal, open April - October. 6 max guests only between November-March***
