Husum, Washington

Husum Hideaway

1 - 3515

Husum is a community in the heart of the rich orchard lands in the White Salmon River Valley in the state of Washington. Under the bridge in Husum, Washington, just miles from Hood River, Oregon and the scenic Columbia Gorge, Husum Falls is a vertical 10-foot waterfall!

Whitewater rafting is a significant local recreational sport, with access points to the White Salmon River directly in the backyard. This very active river features Class III, IV and V white water. Enjoy the lush green vegetation as the river pours through a deep narrow lava canyon where trees grow straight out of the rock walls.

Several regional rafting companies are located in this area. The community is located along the corridor to the Mt. Adams Wilderness and Gifford Pinchot National Forest recreation areas.

There's so much to do in the area!

The home sits right on the White Samon River, a really fun river to whitewater raft or kayak right in the backyard! This river is in the foothills near Mount Adams, this stream affords the best of trout fishing. Big catches of rainbow trout are a daily pastime during the season along its entire length of 30 miles.

The river is a swift running mountain stream, pure and sparkling as crystal. Silently flowing through the level stretch of the Trout Lake region, it suddenly dashes in cataracts and falls, brilliant in the sunlight, before tumbling into semideep canyons lower down the valley. It again appears near the surface level of the country a few miles above here, when it swiftly continues its way to the deep, beautiful Columbia River, six miles below.

Less than 15 minutes from the Columbia River, a world class destination for wind surfers and kite boarders. There are lots of trails for hiking and mountain biking, plus zip lining, fishing, and horseback riding.

Walk to the Husum Hills Golf Course. The nine-hole public golf course with a clubhouse offering dining, and golf club and cart rentals.

Winery tours are another fun activity with a whole bunch of great wineries in close proximity. Go windsurfing, shopping, dinning on Hood River.

Check out the downhill mountain biking in Post Canyon.

Zip line at Tree to Tree and skim boarding on the coast at Cannon Beach.

There are several outfitters close by. Head to Portland for all the wonderful shopping.

Private and comfortable

Tucktaway down a berry strewn private lane you find the Husum hideaway. Lisa, the owner, was very nice and prompt to allow us to gain entry to her home. Extremely comfortable and homey. She left us two bottles of a great local wine that we settled into right away. Love the place! I would love to come back soon…”
