The Cottage
The simple cottage has bespoke details, created by the owner/architect, to give this retreat an understated character with exceptional comfort.
Sun-Drenched Kitchen: Features premium stainless steel and cherry countertops, high-end Miele and Breville appliances, and an outdoor BBQ setup.
Bright Bedrooms: Vaulted ceilings and skylights flood each sleeping space with natural light, while fine cotton linens and fresh air ensure a deeply nourishing sleep.
Screened-In Living & Dining: A comfortable 20-foot screened room serves as the main
Dining and Living rooms. The 10-foot dining table comfortably seats eight, perfect for long summer dinners overlooking the woods and river.
Spa like Bathroom: The heated floor and classic cast iron tub have a private view of the garden.
Indoor Living Room: Perfect for chilly mornings, the living room features a roaring wood-burning fireplace and a custom bench seat designed for cozy family breakfasts. Firewood from the woodland is provided.
The Grounds & Waterfront
Unwind in nature: The seclusion, privacy and 12-acre landscape invites you to slow down and reconnect with nature. Immerse yourself in nature with vibrant wildflower meadows, butterfly habitats, and native gardens framing an acre of pristine cottage lawn. Unwind exactly how you please—whether that means melting into a scattered garden seat, swaying in a hammock, or recapturing childhood on the tree swing. Cap off your afternoon with the refreshing simplicity of our outdoor shower.
Stargazing Pit: Gather under the stars at the private fire pit for quiet, memorable evening.
Birdsong: The property is recognized as an ANSI (Area of Natural and Scientific Interest). Take time to learn to identify the wide range of local birdsong, including red-winged blackbirds, pileated woodpeckers, and grey herons, to name just a few.
River Access: Walk down the woodland path to a low-impact dock on the Black River—a peaceful spot for birdwatching or launching a paddle boat onto Black River.
Watercraft Rentals: Canoes and kayaks (complete with paddles and life jackets) are available to rent so you can explore the protected wetlands at a leisurely pace.
Local Area
While the property feels miles away from everything, it is exceptionally close to some of Prince Edward County’s finest local gems, including PECish Bakery, Vicki’s Veggies, Black River Cheese, and Jackson’s Falls Country Inn.
Guests receive a complimentary one-car parking pass to explore the stunning nearby beaches at Sandbanks Provincial Park and Little Bluff Conservation Area.
