Each day we have private wine tours set up and some of our favorites included Larkmead, Vineyardist, Cade and Lynmar. We tried the mud baths in Calistoga at Golden Haven and did a terrific breakfast outdoors at Sams Social Club at Indian Springs. The home has a gym, pool, tennis courts, volleyball and bocci ball. We had a private chef come in for three nights named Natasha Raymond which we recommend. Scott, the owner made sure we had everything we needed for a fantastic stay. The kitchen is large and better equipped than the usual vacation home, so if you wanted to stay in some nights and cook, you could definitely do that here (there is no grocery delivery, but you can pick up an order at Whole Foods/grocery store on the way there). \\n\\nFor us, the road up and down the mountain to get to the house was a drawback, as we were in town for various wine tastings, dinners, etc., and so were doing a lot of coming and going. If we had been staying up at the house most of the time, it would have been less of an issue. This is a gated, private road with 1 3/4 miles of blind turns, often with a drop off on one side (no guard rail). In most places it is a one lane road. Although there are small pull offs along the way to allow cars to pass, you just have to hope that you are close to one when you meet another car and also hope you see each other in time, given the blind turns. There are no lights at night and frequent deer jumping into the road. You need to drive very slowly and it is still stressful. We met other cars/trucks and experienced deer in the road every day. We were limp with relief whenever we finally made it off the road. Once you make it down, though, you are within a reasonable drive of countless wineries and restaurants. I would not suggest showing up for the first time in the dark, however. French doors provide access to the outside making all of the bedrooms light filled. \\r\\n\\r\\nThe estate sits on just over an acre of land with unobstructed vineyard views. In the mornings you can expect to see hot air balloons. The pool, complete with spa, is a the ideal place to relax and enjoy the tranquil views. There is a full outdoor kitchen with bar, BBQ, pizza oven and outdoor TV. There are two outdoor dining areas with seating for 8 in one area and 18 in another.\\r\\n\\r\\nDuring the cooler nights the two fire pits are perfect for keeping everyone warm while enjoying music on the sound system that runs throughout the indoor and outdoor living spaces. If you are looking for more backyard entertainment there is a bocce ball court, tether ball, trampoline, and grass volleyball court.\\r\\n\\r\\nThe estate is the located in the heart of the Napa Valley wine region. Downtown Napa is known for its late-1800s and early-1900s architecture, a riverfront promenade with shops and restaurants, and an arts scene anchored by the Napa Valley Opera House. The Oxbow Public Market, only 10 minutes away, houses a farmer's market and cheese shop, and the Napa Valley Wine Train visits area wineries via vintage Pullman cars.
