What a lovely vacation.

We stayed at the Grand Solmar the last week of June/first week of July. The resort is lovely! Very clean, the room was amazing - each room well equipped and a beautiful views of the ocean and pools. The staff was wonderful and friendly. We had treatments at the spa - the whole staff was truly wonderful there as well. The singular disappointment for the trip was the food at the resort. It just wasn't that great! There are plenty of bars and dining options during the day but they mostly close at 6:00 pm with the exception of the very expensive fine dining option. The other food was also very expensive and just mediocre. The best recommendation I have for anyone staying here is to make a very thorough stop at a grocery store when you arrive and plan to eat and cook a lot in your rooms. But, on that note, you are not allowed to bring food/drinks to the pool so you are sort of stuck buying the drinks at the pool. There is a good 2 for 1 happy hour twice a day that was nice but for a long week with a lot of mouths to feed this wasn't the most ideal resort I've ever stayed at. There is a nice option of a shuttle from this resort to Grand Solmar Pacific Dunes that runs every other hour, every day. We took advantage of the shuttle several times to get into town, take a great boat tour of The Arch and snorkeling and finding other places to eat. Overall, it was a great experience and place to spend a week!”

Comfortable penthouse with ocean view

This was a nice relaxing vacation for me and my two daughters. The penthouse is big with strong AC. Our unit is beachfront with amazing ocean view. Our unit is close to the pool area. The unit itself was clean, very comfortable and pretty. Regarding the resort, this resort is big. There are multiple restaurants inside the resort. I prefer a smaller resort with a more personalized touch. It’s hard to get out of this resort as it is located deep in the dunes. You need to rent a car or get a private taxi to get around. If you want just to stay in one location for a week then this is great but if you want some cultural immersion and options for local restaurants nearby then you need to get a car rental or hire a private driver to go outside. It’s extremely difficult for Uber to get in and out of this property as they have to go through multiple security gates from the main road. Or the resort might not even allow them to get in. You have to use the resort’s own taxi or own private services for outside exploration or activities. ”

An Amazing Family Vacation at Grand Solmar Pacific Dunes

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the 3 Bedroom Penthouse at Grand Solmar Pacific Dunes through ThirdHome. We traveled with our daughter, son-in-law, and our two grandsons (ages 4 and 8), and the spacious layout was perfect for our family. There was plenty of room for everyone to spread out and relax without ever feeling crowded. The penthouse itself was beautiful, exceptionally clean, and very well maintained. The housekeeping staff did an outstanding job throughout our stay. The unit had almost everything we needed. The only amenities we missed were a dishwasher and an in-unit washer and dryer, but neither took away from what was otherwise a wonderful experience. The resort offers plenty of activities for families. Our grandsons absolutely loved the water slides, the jungle rope over the pool, and the many activities organized by the entertainment staff. We happened to visit during the World Cup, and the staff went above and beyond by hosting soccer-themed activities, including bracelet making, face painting, and fun prediction games where the kids could guess who would score first and at what point in the match. It created such a fun atmosphere for both children and adults. During our June 2026 stay, one of the restaurants was closed, which limited the dinner options. The daytime pool menus offered plenty of choices, but we would have appreciated a few more evening dining options. That said, we absolutely loved the sports bar. It had a great atmosphere, excellent food, and became one of our favorite places to gather. We also took advantage of the complimentary shuttle to another Grand Solmar property, where we enjoyed a glass-bottom boat tour to El Arco. It was a fantastic excursion and one of the highlights of our trip. Overall, we had an amazing family vacation and would not hesitate to return. Grand Solmar Pacific Dunes is a beautiful resort with outstanding service, wonderful family activities, and spacious accommodations that made for an unforgettable stay. ”
