Bear Lake Reserve Mountain Retreat

Set along the peaceful shoreline of Bear Creek Lake, this beautiful Alpine-inspired, lakefront home offers a serene escape surrounded by nature, water, and mountain air. Designed for families and groups seeking both relaxation and adventure, the home blends cozy comfort with immersive outdoor living—creating a quiet retreat just beyond the bustle of everyday life. Featuring four bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms, the home delights guests with its sense of space, privacy, and natural beauty.

Upon entering the great room, vaulted ceilings with exposed wood beams immediately draw the eye upward, while wall-to-wall windows frame gorgeous lake views stretching as far as the eye can see. The chalet-style living space feels warm and inviting in every season, anchored by a cozy indoor fireplace that sets the tone for evenings spent together. Curl up on the comfortable sofa with a warm cup of cocoa, entertain guests in the open rustic living area, or simply enjoy the ever-changing scenery just beyond the glass.

The spectacular gourmet kitchen will bring out your inner chef, featuring pristine granite countertops, top-of-the-line appliances, and a spacious island designed for gathering. This mountain estate offers numerous dining and gathering areas with ample seating for large families or groups. Feast at the dining room table that seats eight, or allow meals to spill outdoors where sweeping views of Bear Creek Lake and the surrounding mountains create the perfect backdrop for shared moments.

Outdoor living defines the experience. Multiple decks extend the home into its natural surroundings, offering ideal spaces for alfresco dining, stargazing, or quiet reflection. Outdoor fireplaces invite evening conversations beneath the stars, while a private dock and beach area with a fire pit make this the perfect place to relax by the water. Included with the home are a canoe, three kayaks, paddles, and PFDs, allowing guests to explore the lake at their leisure. Sols Creek Falls and Flat Creek Falls can be accessed directly from the house by a short canoe or kayak trip from the dock to the trailhead.

Escape for the night to one of two king-bed master suites, a queen bedroom, or a bunk room with two sets of custom built-in bunk beds. The primary bathroom includes a gorgeous walk-in tiled shower, massive soaking tub, and double vanity, while the additional bathrooms are equally well appointed with showers and tubs. Downstairs, a second living room with ample seating provides the perfect space for games and relaxation, complemented by a fully equipped kitchenette with sink, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, utensils, and dinnerware. With amazing lake views from these spaces, time spent here feels both restful and indulgent.

A brand-new lower-floor master queen suite has recently been added and is available for an additional fee. This private level includes its own kitchenette, an elegant ensuite bathroom, a private deck with stunning lake views, a cozy built-in bunk bed, and a dedicated home theater for exclusive use. Designed for ultimate relaxation, this suite offers a secluded retreat within the home; access must be coordinated with the host in advance.

The setting offers both seclusion and access. While the home feels tucked away and tranquil, it is in close proximity to Asheville, North Carolina, as well as Panthertown Valley and nearby rivers including the Tuckasegee, French Broad, and Little Tennessee. Quaint mountain towns such as Cashiers, Sylva, and Brevard are all within easy driving distance, offering restaurants, shops, microbreweries, and local charm.

The home enjoys access to the community’s Lake Club amenities which include dining options, pools, hot tubs, a fitness center, private theater, marina access, boutique shopping, and shuttle service. Nestled in the heart of the mountains, Bear Lake Reserve is a premier village centered around family, lakes, and simple mountain living.

**The home is set deep within Bear Lake Reserve, offering exceptional privacy and natural beauty. The final drive includes winding, narrow mountain roads typical of the area, which some guests may find adventurous, especially at night or in winter. Arriving before sunset and planning groceries in advance is recommended due to the secluded setting and seasonal dining availability. **

Una casa e una posizione meravigliose

We spent a wonderful Christmas holiday with our family at Bear Lake Reserve. The property was amazing and well equipped. We enjoyed the canoe and kayaks on calm sunny days and explored near-by waterfalls. Even caught a few trout. We knew winter was off season at Bear Lake and knew it would be quiet. The only negative was the home is a 25 minute drive once you get to the Reserve. Narrow mountain roads with no guard rails made the drive in nerve wracking and had us questioning our decision. We certainly were not going out to dinner! We provisioned well thankfully and did have one meal at the Lake Club. We did get comfortable on the roads and fully explored the Reserve, played pickleball, hiked on the many trails inside the Preserve, and left glad we came. We will suggest to the owner to clarify the details of the homes location and seasonality of the Lake Club. ”

Pics Can’t Do It Justice

Incredible private lake views surrounded by multiple waterfalls around the property. Had a mini power outage we didn’t notice because it had backup solar power. Just a perfect home for a family with kids or extended family. ”

The Red House- perfect venue for family reunions!

Our holiday getaway could not have been any more relaxing and memorable at the beautiful, and well-appointed 3-storey lake house. Clean, comfortable and cozy, it offered an inviting atmosphere for my extended family of (9 adults + 5 children); and served as the perfect home away from home. As soon as we stepped into the property, details such as a bottle of red wine with a handwritten notecard, welcomed us from the get go. The open kitchen was a popular gathering place as was the outdoor fireplace and verandah. Throughout our stay the property managers were easily available for any clarification we had, quick to respond and address our needs. Instructions were crystal clear for any appliances and labeling everything, was a most meticulous touch, that we appreciated. We noticed the Red House was situated at the furthest tip of the Bear Lake Reserve Community. It was well worth the winding drive from the main gate and greeter’s cottage, because it is one of the few homes that are built closest to the lake and had the best views from any vantage point of the home. It also has its own dock and my daughters availed of the kayak on the last day. In January, it was exhilarating to say the least! We enjoyed daily hikes, the use of the Clubhouse, where we spent New Year’s Eve, even partook of the yearly tradition- “Polar Plunge,” and got to experience the Club’s warm hospitality first hand. We appreciated the small-town charm shown to us by the members and staff. Our holiday getaway was made very special at The Red House and we dream of returning to the same property in the future. Thank you to the property owner, for being instrumental in creating beautiful memories for our family, ones we will cherish forever. Jake and Gina P ”
