Description

Recently rebuilt from the ruins of an 18th century farmhouse, Il Granaio and its adjacent guest house form an exceptionally comfortable country retreat in a setting that lends itself to a perfectly relaxing, get-away-from-it-all holiday. From the superbly equipped fitted kitchen to the stone walls of the billiards and game rooms, the two houses combine Tuscan charm and style with very high quality finishes and the latest in conveniences. Terracotta floors and beamed ceilings are complemented by lovely, whimsical antiques and soft contemporary pieces. Two gazebos for dining and lounging extend the living areas into the garden, where a private pool is set into a sunny terrace surrounded by trees and rolling fields. Situated in the Pisan hills, the property is surrounded by lovely little villages that seldom appear on tourist maps. Between the villages are the vineyards of the Chianti delle Colline Pisane. NOTE: The property drive is 8 minutes long off the main road. Please keep in mind this is Tuscan farm country and attention must be taken to access the property along this dirt road.

Difficult location and could use some updates

Tuscany is beautiful and the grounds of this home were stunning. The issues were related to the long driveway - and location. Google maps didn’t take us to the house the correct way - there is a road behind the home that is a dirt road which is not in drivable condition - we kept getting routed that direction which was not ideal after driving all day to surrounding towns since the home is very isolated. The driveway is about 8 minutes long, and full of pot holes, - to the point when it was raining we went into a muddy ditch and needed to be towed out by the local farmer (who was wonderful!) but it took a day off our vacation not having a functioning vehicle. Also for the key level the concierge team did not provide the services expected for this number of keys. We received no direction on the home - just handed keys with a remote. We got a bath towel and one hand towel per person, with no extras. -so we had to do laundry. Not all the rooms were made up so we had to do our own bedding upon arrival. The kitchen ideas had not be cleaned well. There is no heating on the main floor. The bedroom heating/cooling did not work well. The bocce court was not well maintained and we didn’t have matching balls to pay the game. We tried to make the most of the visit as we were there celebrating a birthday, but each day we did feel that the home had issues that were affecting our overall experience in a negative fashion. I would say the home has potential if they improve the road to the home and update the heating and cooling and improve the kitchen cleaning between guests. ”

Il Granaio

This was a beautiful home in the Tuscan hills about an hour from Florence. The home met all our expectations, with a beautiful kitchen and living area, and more than enough room for the six of us. We arranged exciting adventures in this area everyday....Truffle hunting, a day on Vespas exploring the countryside, picking olives and having lunch at a olive farm,.....all the people we met were very friendly and helpful. We felt right at home, and would completely recommend”

The week was perfect!

We loved your home in Tuscany....and our stay for the week was perfect! Your home is beautiful, and very comfortable. The kitchen was very nice, and we loved cooking in it most every night. Our weather was perfect, highs in the seventies, and evening temps in the lower sixties. The only rain came as we drove to Milan to catch our flight on Saturday. We really got to know the surrounding area, traveling to Lucca, Lari, Castelfalfi, San Gimignano, as well as Peccioli, which we loved. We met some wonderful people and picked olives, hunted truffles, drank wine, and visited some really nice places. My wife and I have traveled Italy many times, and this was a little different trip for us, staying in one place for a week. I can certainly tell the amount of time and work you put in to your home, and we treated it with respect and appreciation. Thank you again....”
