Lovely staff and place!

We came here for my mom’s birthday and it was exceptional! The grounds are stunning and the home is spacious. The biggest treat was the 10 staff members that offer beautiful service and extraordinary care. The Chef Minor catered to our vegetarian/pescatarian group better than we’ve ever had anywhere in the world. The food was so beyond anything we could have imagined. We spent our days playing tennis, swimming, using the water slide and hanging out. A perfect venue to bond in nature and to feel like a king or queen. A trip of a lifetime. Thank you Anabelle and everyone for making us feel so welcome. ”

El Castillo de Esparza

This property was fantastic! It is perfect for a family or corporate retreat. The set up allow for everything to be planned on property from meals, to pool lounging and tennis. There is not much to do very close by, but if you are looking for a place to unwind with a larger group, this is it!. The staff, particularly Annabelle and Josue, were so accommodating and responsive to all requests. Couldn't have been better”

Wade was right about El Castillo

No other way to put it....El Castillo is jaw dropping. We booked it to have a large place to bring together immediate and extended family. No doubt the most opulent place we have ever visited. The staff treated us as family, and honored all our requests (except Hollandaise sauce). Staff to guest ratio: 1 to 1. Used clothing disappeared and reappeared laundered and neatly folded each day, as just one example of their attentiveness. This was literally the vacation of a life time. Really felt like royalty for a week. Jan plans weddings at the US Naval Academy, Annapolis, and has looked into El Castillo as a destination wedding site, The owners were very receptive, I thought that the cover photo was taken with the “special” realtors’ lens which makes a pantry look like a gym, but not at all: this room is a miniature ball room. Our first visit to Costa Rica, and we love it, Very special, Do not miss this place. Just amazing! ,”

Bygone era

El Castillo de Esparza undoubtedly was built at a time when Costa Rica was wild and untamed. Esparza and nearby Puntarenas has grown to engulf it. Nonetheless it is an island of tranquility and a nod to an era when Costa Rica harbored minor royalty that I guess was seeking refuge. The home is on a massive scale, very impressive and comfortable, but showing its age, which in and of itself is a bit charming. The staff is impeccable in all respects, especially the quality and talent of the kitchen and chef. However, the location is inconvenient to what Costa Rica offers; so don't expect to be near beach, national parks, zip lines, rainforest, and so on. This place is best experienced as part of a journey to Costa Rica, or as a destination unto itself on one's third visit when you've already done the other activities and are looking for a hideout....which is what the place was designed for anyway!!!!”

Excelente!!!

What a wonderful stay we had at El Castillo de Esparza! The home and grounds were absolutely beautiful and the staff was amazing! We planned several excursions which we really enjoyed, but we also loved hanging out by the pool and getting massages at their on-site spa. They made suggestions for our daily activities, then they arranged for transportation, reservations, etc. One of the English speaking staff members accompanied us on all excursions, which was very nice. The canopy and ATV tours were great and they took us to a nearby beach to feed the monkeys. We had a great time touring the Jaco area as well. The chef is amazing! He prepared a large variety and we loved everything! The fresh fish was a group favorite. The staff took special care in preparing and decorating for two birthday parties in our group. They suggested we get a mariachi band and it was so much fun! I would highly recommend this home. It is truly a luxury vacation and you will be completely spoiled by the awesome staff. Special thanks to Scott, Hank and the staff. I miss it already!”

We had a marvelous week at El Castillo. The staff and service was superb and could not have been more helpful. Meals prepared by the chef were amazing. Service from the staff was always pleasant and executed to perfection. The house and grounds are spectacular. Our excursions into the countryside were expertly arranged. Wade - As we sit here enjoying the beautiful views of the grounds and ocean we are relaxed and content! What an amazing place! It is like being in your very own resort. Each day decisions must be made - whether or not to play tennis on the private tennis court, practice putting on the greens by the waterfall, go down the water slide, play chess on the large scale chess board (where the chess pieces are 3'), relax in the float chairs or swim up to the bar for a margarita, the options are endless! Our biggest decision of the day is where we want the staff to set up for dinner - the upper patio, middle patio, dining room or down by the pool. The food is exceptional and the dinners rival any fine restaurant in the states! We can't say enough good things about the friendly, caring staff. We are having a fabulous time. In fact, we might not leave!!! ”
