Description

You can have it all! True 18th century charm and 21st century convenience on San Miguel’s oldest street, in a quiet, desirable neighborhood just three blocks from San Miguel’s elegant, festive Jardin. This beautiful home is charming and comfortable, offering bright, colorful interiors, gracious outdoor living, and stunning views.

The king bedroom has doors leading to a plant-screened terrace, with a king-size bed, a walk-in closet, and tiled bath and shower. It looks out onto the town, sky, and distant mountains.

The queen bedroom has a garden balcony and a vaulted boveda ceiling, with a queen-size bed, and its own walk-in closet, tiled shower, and private studio. It looks out onto the house garden.

The twins bedroom has twin beds, a walk-in closet, and tiled bath and shower, and its own living area. It looks out onto the house garden.

All bedrooms share an internal stairway to rooftop terraces with extraordinary views of the Parroquia and town, lake, mountains, and sunsets. Lie in the sun on chaise lounges or sit in shade under the tiled veranda.

You’ll love your choices for relaxation and enjoyment throughout this thoroughly modern home with 18th century walls. In the living room you’ll find overstuffed sofas and chairs, a hand-built fireplace, and thick, warmly colored walls. In the dining room you may gather for meals at a long country table. The brightly tiled kitchen is ready for cooking or for being served.

Relax in the stone patio by a sprinkling tile and stone fountain. Sit outdoors at stone tables or in the cool shade of the outdoor sala with its overstuffed sofas and chairs.

Our WiFi is the best that can be offered: fiber optic network; highest speed available; mesh network to send signals around thick adobe walls. Guests report that they can easily have two video conferences at the same time on different laptops.

This home is located in the sweet spot of San Miguel. It is close enough to the Jardin to be convenient, yet far enough to be quiet. It is high enough on the hill to have spectacular views, yet not so high that you dread walking home. The house is directly across the street from the home of famed telenovela actress Margarita Gralia, close to taxis, and within short walks to everything, only three blocks from the Jardin.

There is parking on the street and a supervised parking lot is close by, but San Miguel is a walker's town, and you don't need (or really want) a car. The neighborhood has its own wonderful little bar, El Manantial, that was recently featured as not-to-be-missed in the New York Times feature, 36 hours in San Miguel de Allende.

A magical oasis in San Miguel de Allende

Step inside this enchanting oasis and be whisked away to a secret garden of tranquility. The breathtaking architecture and cultural charm create an enthralling atmosphere throughout the home. Every bedroom, bathroom, and living space is meticulously adorned with traditional décor and modern conveniences, offering a couture experience. The kitchen showcases a stunning collection of pottery and all the amenities needed to master authentic Mexican culinary delights. The serene courtyard, with its cascading waterfalls and lush terraces, provides a timeless escape. One of the most impressive features of this home is the staircase adorned with traditional Mexican Talavera tiles, revealing a rooftop that offers panoramic views of the entire city. It's a truly otherworldly experience – a garden retreat on a rooftop that evokes a bygone era. Here, one can unwind with a captivating book and a glass of wine while soaking in the sounds of church bells and the ebb and flow of everyday life below. The casa sits atop a hill on a cobblestone street, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of downtown. However, a beautiful 10 to 20-minute walk leads to the main zocalo, where you can find numerous coffee shops, art galleries, and traditional bakeries and eateries. Culinary and craft vendors are scattered at every corner. For convenience after shopping, taking a taxi back to the casa is recommended. San Miguel is steeped in indigenous history that celebrates the region's people. We indulged in tours highlighting the region's food, visited UNESCO historical sites, and explored art museums that showcased Mexico's rich diversity in people groups and history. The management team's outstanding communication enhanced the experience, arranging a private chef and offering recommendations for exceptional local eateries. I am eagerly anticipating my next visit to this property whenever possible.”

Awesome Getaway!

This is a very unique home with lots of outdoor space and an awesome rooftop patio. Very characteristic design for the area and loaded with charm. This city totally took us by surprise and we look forward to a return visit to pick up where we left off. The owner was very responsive to questions and made planning a breeze. Would 100% recommend San Miguel with Casa Cielo as your base!”
