Description

Welcome to Guanajuato, the birthplace of famed muralist Diego Rivera, whose historic old town and the adjacent silver mines are listed as one of Mexico’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Guests will take a trip back in history after entering this superb Hacienda La Trinidad, where film directors Tim Burton and Olive Stone have enjoyed a stay here in the past.

Built more than 400 years ago by the Spaniards, this architectural gem is the perfect haven for all creative guests to find their moment of inspiration. This hacienda seems like a temple suspended in time, where each element has been preserved and remained intact. The old stone walls of this former silver refiner are as spectacular as the wood that embeds all the ceilings and the various furniture of the property.

Built over two levels and divided into two separate residences, the soft lightning and bright natural colours, from dark brown to cream to white, as well as its variation of materials, from ceramics to glass or leather, are the beauty of this estate. Lavishly appointed, Hacienda La Trinidad has a unique architecture and features every modern convenience and luxury furnishing has to make this a splendid property for your holiday.

Inside the 18,622 sq. ft. (1,731m2) property, guests will be amazed by the spacious and inviting living area offering a wonderful space for guests to be together and relax. The wood burning stove in the fireplace and comfy sofas for relaxing after a long day in the sun invite guests to read a book while enjoying the taste of a glass of red Guanajuato wine. The cosy and welcoming space also features various tables, a flat screen SAT-TV, as well as large windows and glass doors opening onto the outdoor patio surrounded by the lush, green orchard gardens.

Among the particular characteristics of the property, the roof the ensuite bedroom is 13ft. (4m.) high, which gives the space unique perspectives and offers guests a unique Mexican experience. With 1.5 bathrooms, 1 queen size bed, Hacienda La Trinidad Guest House can accommodate 2 guests and offers magnificent views of the surroundings. At the back of the property, the gardens are the ideal place to relax and enjoy the mild Mexican climate. Guests will be able to grill up some great food on the gas BBQ for delicious al fresco meals and enjoy mellow evenings while admiring the gardens illuminated with dozens of candles, which turn evenings into magical nights.

Hacienda La Trinidad is a haven where guests have the space and tranquility to relax and escape, and is a stunning luxury exclusive-use venue for special occasions, house parties, weddings and corporate events.

The charming city of Guanajuato has many narrow streets and alleys, and ‘El Callejon del Beso’, is he narrowest, with balconies of the opposing houses kissing each other. This is the reason why couples traditionally kiss each other on the third step, to be guaranteed years of happiness! Stroll along the historic completely pedestrian streets of the Old Town, a labyrinth of walkable streets and elaborate network of subterranean streets. The Old Town is also home to the 17th-century Basílica de Nuestra Señora de Guanajuato, a striking yellow church that sits on a small hill and dominates the Plaza de la Paz. From there, head to the one of the most popular places to visit in Guanajuato, to live a thrilling experience at the Mummy Museum, with 100 well-preserved mummies.

Beautiful Guanajuato has been a haven for artists and creative types for some time, including one of Mexico’s most famous artists, Diego Rivera. The muralist and mosaic artist, and Frida Kahlo’s husband, was actually born in Guanajuato, and the small ‘Museo y Casa de Diego Rivera’ has some sketches and paintings by Rivera, displayed in the home where he grew up.

Guests wishing cityscape shots and panoramic views of Guanajuato, the Monumento al Pipila is your place. Climb the hill by funicular and discover this monument that is a tribute to a local Guanajuato hero, “El Pipila,” one of the major heroes in Mexican folk tales.

At nighttime, experience an evening stroll, locally called ‘callejonedas’, in the streets and plazas in which you are accompanied by strolling musicians dressed in period costumes! A number of important festivals and celebrations occur throughout Guanajuato, including local religious and historical fiestas that celebrate popular folklore and practices.

Unacceptable as Thirdhome

Wonderful historical ambience, but barely tolerable as an accommodation. The place needs a serious refresh/refurbishment asap. The home has such amazing potential, but steer away until such time that the owners invest in bringing it up to standard. We were so displeased, we ended up spending the majority of our stay at an alternate residence.”

A good place for weddings only!

We loved to stay around the town of Guanajuato, although the house was not close to it. Taxi s needed for every visit. Both house hold managers were very kind and helpful. The very old house needs urgent renovations ! The staircase is a hell when you have issues with knees and hips. So be aware. We had an important problem to get warm water for our showers as it is not indicated which sides serves hot or cold water. + it takes a long time to have hot water. All plugs and switches are so old that they urgently have to be upgraded to today’s standards. Also light switches are hard to find. The Hacienda is extremely popular for weddings. So a full stay for 7 days is always refused by the owner. We estimate this property should not be on THIRDHOME. ”

A very interesting place to stay

We enjoyed our time at the hacienda and loved Guanajuato. For people considering a stay at this property you should know a few things. Stairs are required to reach the main living space. The courtyard going into the hacienda is very uneven and would cause difficulties for people who aren't good on their feet. Although part of the hacienda has been modernized not everything is up to date. That being said we truly appreciated the opportunity to stay in a wonderful historic building.”
