Description

Peacefully positioned in the refined, palazzo-packed parish of San Samuele, Ca’ della Luce is a completely newly renewed property located close to the Grand Canal, in the heart of the ‘City of Water’, in the district of San Marco. From the spacious bedrooms and living area to the amazing rooftop terrace that overlooks Venice, this property has a series of features that make it truly one of a kind.

Immerse yourself in a magical setting full of history and at the same time enjoy the most modern and exclusive amenities. Flooded with light along with elegance, the owners’ taste and designer’s talents, seems to fit the palazzo's name. The apartment sleeps 6 within the top 2 floors of the property reached by stairs.

Crowned with a furnished ‘altana’ above the rooftops of Venice made up of a tray of wooden boards exposed to the sun and winds, guests will have the possibility to rest on the rooftop terrace while enjoying exceptional vistas across the surrounding terracotta rooftops to some of Venice’s most iconic landmarks including the domes of Salute and St. Mark’s Campanile.

The interior is no less impressive as the exterior. Step inside this magnificent apartment where the restoration work has been carried out meticulously and admire the original architectural elements have been kept, such as the wooden beams. The spacious sitting/dining room dressed in a cool and classic palette of muted neutrals brightened by splashes of teal and Tiffany blue against a backdrop of white painted beams and burnished wooden parquet.

The ample spaces still feel cosy and comfortable, and the decoration is carefully designed down to the smallest detail. The small up-to-date and well-equipped kitchen to the side has everything guests may need and features dappled grey marble work surfaces and Miele oven.

Each of the three bedrooms has been decorated in keeping with the style of the house. On the same floor, guests will find two delightful bedrooms – the master in Farrow & Ball’s ‘Lotus’ Damask print with double bed and a twin decked out in Farrow & Ball’s ‘Tessella’ with 2 single beds, both coming along with a contemporary-style bathroom decorated entirely in Italian mosaic with a bathtub and a hand held shower.

Up the stairs, guests will be amazed by the characterful studio doubling up as an additional 3rd bedroom with double bed, its own en-suite bathroom with shower (also in mosaic), plus steps that rise to the magical roof terrace for whiling away your downtime and soaking up the atmosphere of this most special of towns.

Although Ca’ della Luce is situated in the smallest neighbourhood in Venice, the sestieri of San Marco houses most of the city’s landmarks, including St’ Mark’s Square with the adjacent Basilica and Doge’s Palace, Harry’s Bar, the Palazzo Dandolo, San Moisè and the La Fenice Theatre, mostly listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Perhaps the best way is to simply get lost wandering through the enchanting little streets and passageways of ‘The Floating City’ that abound with artisans, strolling beside its canals, and finding its secret corners. No matter where this exploration takes you, it's easy to find your way back to St. Mark’s square (Piazza San Marco’) and the Grand Canal. Take a walk through the most characteristic and important places for the history of Venice, and climb St. Mark’s Bell Tower and visit one of the most majestic cathedrals in the world, St. Mark’s Basilica.

After admiring the stunning views from the oldest bridge in Venice, Rialto Bridge, you will have some time to enjoy some shopping on either side of its portico. Beyond the romantic canals and picturesque architecture, guests passionate about history will easily find their way to the myriads of museums the ‘City of Masks’ has to offers, including the prestigious Gallerie dell’Accademia, the symbol of the city - the Doge’s Palace, Ca’ Pesaro International Gallery of Modern Art and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection.

Hop on board a gondola and experience the hidden canals of Venice by boat while the gondolier hums some traditional Italian melodies. Nevertheless, a trip to Venice wouldn't be complete without onboarding a vaporetto (Venetian public waterbus) for the ride across the lagoon to Murano, home of Venice's fabled glass workers. Explore the intricacies of the famed Italian handicrafts with a day trip from Venice to the nearby islands of Murano and Burano, and watch centuries-old glassblowing techniques in Murano, and marvel at the detailed stitches of exquisite Burano lace.

*** Please be aware that the ‘altana’ is only accessible via the studio/3rd bedroom)***
*** please note that the apartment only accepts fully supervised children over 6 years of age or under 1 year (non-walking babies) because of the internal stairs, ‘altana’ rooftop terrace***
