Description

Historic Renovated Barn | At Boorn Brook Farm

This beautifully restored historic French-inspired barn was built in the 1820s and is nestled on 53 acres of open meadows and old apple orchards with stunning 360-degree mountain views. The interior has wide-plank floors, hand-hewn beams, soaring ceilings, stone fireplaces, and quintessential New England charm.

This country estate and studio once belonged to famed painter and fly-fishing enthusiast Ogden Pleissner and is perfect for individuals, couples, or small families hoping for a country vacation or a quiet retreat to nature; you and your loved ones are sure to find peace and solace in the delightful escape.

When you aren't exploring and enjoying the great outdoors, spend some time inside baking bread in the stone bread oven that awaits in the fully equipped kitchen with plenty of natural light and a dining table. The great room is ideal for quality time with a lounge area, TV, game table, dining table, piano, and cozy reading chair options. A more formal billiard room boasts a pool table for those hoping for a little friendly competition.

Ready to retire for the night? Before you do, catch the sunset behind Equinox Mountain from the outdoor firepit or the hot tub outside the master bedroom. The lofted second bedroom is just as cozy as the master, with a queen bed and an extra single bed ideal for children.

Boorn Brook Farm is protected by Lye Brook National Forest, yet it is within 5 minutes of the town centers of Manchester and Manchester Center, where you will find all the conveniences of city living, including restaurants and shopping.

Boorn Brook Farm is the new home of Green Mountain Falconry School, so be on the lookout for one of the beautiful birds flying high in the sky. During the summer season, you can take falconry lessons on-site. Other summer activities include swimming in the spring-fed pond with a beach, fishing in the brook and the on-site trout pond, playing tennis on the private court next to the barn, hiking on the Farm's private trails or in the bordering Lye Brook Wilderness, or relax in one of the hammocks or on a picnic blanket under a shade tree.

Autumn is a magical time in New England, and there is no exception at Boorn Brook Farm. The mountains behind and in front of the Farm come alive with color during the fall. All summer attractions are available but remember to pack a sweater or light jacket for the cooler evenings.

During winter, skate on the pond, sled on the nearby hill, snowshoe, or cross-country ski on the back trails. Ski and snowboard options are available at the nearby Stratton or Bromley Mountains. Sleigh rides are also available close by in Manchester Center.

Be sure to say hi to Pan and Axel, the friendly farm goats!

Vermont is overflowing with stunning, quaint, and charming four-season tourist resort towns, so if you have a free day, plenty of day trips are available to explore The Green Mountain State further.

Fabulous time in nature

Fabulous stay with our 3 young children. The grounds are spectacular and a true nature lover's paradise. The barn was a perfect place to sleep but we spent the majority of our time outdoors hiking the nearby trails, fishing, playing tennis, and bathing in the brook on property.”
