Cottage with breathtaking views atop the Cliffs of Moher

Welcome to this enchanting traditional Irish cottage, perched atop the majestic Cliffs of Moher, boasting breathtaking views of Galway Bay, the Aran Islands, and the vast expanse of the Atlantic Ocean. This stunning cottage holds a rich history, as it was originally a flagstone house dating back to the early 1800s. However, the tragic events of the famine in the 1850s led to its abandonment as a dwelling, and it eventually succumbed to ruin. Fortunately, in 1991, the Stacks and Satterthwaite families lovingly restored the cottage, using the very stones from the original structure, earning them well-deserved recognition from the Irish Architects with the Best Cottage Design award in the same year.

Nestled on the remarkable Wild Atlantic Way, a captivating 1600-mile coastal walking route that stretches from the enchanting Inishowen Peninsula in the North to the picturesque town of Kinsale in the South, the cottage offers an unparalleled opportunity to immerse yourself in the natural wonders of Ireland.

Comfortably accommodating eight guests, the cottage features four charming en suite bedrooms, each thoughtfully furnished with two cozy twin beds. The well-equipped kitchen awaits passionate cooks, stocked with modern amenities, including a microwave, coffee maker, toaster, blender, kettle, and dishwasher.

For your convenience, the cottage also includes a washing machine and a dryer, accompanied by an ironing board and iron. We provide towels, linens, hair dryers, and extra toiletries, ensuring your stay is as comfortable as can be. Please note that due to the cottage's remote location, internet connectivity may vary.

To add to the rustic ambiance, two peat-burning fireplaces grace the living room and dining room, keeping you warm and snug during your stay. Additionally, wall-mounted heating units are thoughtfully placed in every room to ensure your comfort throughout your visit.

In this idyllic retreat, the owners encourage you to escape the distractions of modern life intentionally. Instead, indulge in a vast collection of games, puzzles, and books, all written by esteemed Irish authors, as there is no television on the premises.

Furthermore, the owners want you to be well-prepared to explore the captivating surroundings. Thus, you'll find the cottage thoughtfully supplied with wax jackets, boots of various sizes, cozy wool sweaters, and walking sticks, inviting you to embark on memorable adventures.

Last but not least, the kitchen and all bathrooms have been recently renovated, providing you with modern comforts while retaining the cottage's delightful rustic charm.

Immerse yourselves in the timeless beauty of the Irish coastline, and create cherished memories in this lovingly restored Irish cottage steeped in history and surrounded by unparalleled natural wonders.

Gorgeous Cottage

Our family group of 7 had a marvelous stay overlooking the Cliffs of Moher. The owners have done a fabulous job of rebuilding an authentic stone cottage, complete with a warm, 2-way fireplace, and comfortable sitting room with a well-stocked library. En-suite bathrooms, washer/dryer set-up, and fully equipped, modern kitchen. Great stuff — will happily return!”

Irish Cottage Bliss

What a beautiful home on the Irish coast atop the Cliffs of Moher! We loved staying at this traditional cottage overlooking the sea and Kim was an outstanding host that gave us lots of great recommendations and was easy to communicate with. You can feel the love that has been put into this home in every corner and the views are absolutely incredible and we loved ended each day around the fire with a pint. Many fun adventures were had exploring the traditional music scene at the pubs in Doolin, a private hawk walk in the Burren, roaming the Latin Quarter in Galway, taking the ferry to Inis Mor and walking the Cliffs of Moher with such iconic views. This was our first trip to Ireland and we found the calmness and beauty of it all quite intoxicating and highly recommend a stay in this lovely cottage. We hope to return for a future stay!”
