Description

Midcentury Modern Dream Over Port Townsend

Nestled in the picturesque town of Port Townsend, Washington, this vacation property offers a Midcentury Modern dream overlooking the stunning Port Townsend Bay. Positioned as the jewel on the Olympic Peninsula, Port Townsend invites exploration and enjoyment, and this home serves as the perfect base for your visit.

Upon entering, guests are welcomed by floor-to-ceiling windows that frame breathtaking views of Port Townsend Bay. The interior of this meticulously restored home, designed by renowned Northwest architect Paul Kirk, showcases the clean and simple lines characteristic of mid-century modern design. Lovingly preserved in its original beauty and thoughtfully updated, the home's furniture and decor reflect the charm of the era, promising a delightful stay. While the home is charming and updated, the closets and drawers are originals that show their age. The house is a classic Pacific Northwest era house, stylish, but not sumptuous. If luxury is your taste, then this house is not for you. The kitchen is equipped for any cooking needs, though the oven is small. All parts of the house have magnificent views.

Conveniently located just four blocks from 'Uptown,' guests can park their cars and immerse themselves in the local charm. Uptown offers a vibrant Farmer's Market on Wednesdays and Saturdays in summer, excellent restaurants, a theater, four grocery markets, parks, and more. A short stroll down the street leads to the bustling 'Downtown' area, replete with two coffee shops, art galleries, retail stores featuring clothing, jewelry, music, books, gifts, and diverse dining options. Notable restaurants, celebrated online, provide an exquisite culinary experience. Our favorite is Hanzano Noodles. The proximity to kayaks for rent, pristine beaches, and a convenient ferry to Whidbey Island adds to the allure of this centrally located home. The accessory shed behind the house includes two paddle boards with roof straps. You can launch from many locations. There is also one medium women’s Mt bike in the shed and other bikes can be rented.

The property's strategic location allows guests to fully immerse themselves in the local atmosphere, whether exploring the vibrant town or embarking on day trips to nearby attractions. After a day of adventures, return to the comfort of this relaxing home, where you can plan the next day's activities or simply unwind.

Whether your preference is for action-packed days or leisurely relaxation, this Port Townsend retreat is poised to ensure your visit becomes a cherished memory. Experience the charm and convenience of this Midcentury Modern gem, making it a destination you'll want to return to time and again.

Excellent Stay at Port Townsend Washington home

Our first use of Third Home was a huge success. We stayed in a unique home built in 1957, with huge glass, overlooking Puget Sound. Each morning we would sit outside admiring the boat traffic and the wildlife running or circling above. The house was well appointed with exception of A/C which isn't typically needed in Seattle area but because the super large windows, and the very sunny days, the house did heat up during the day. It's a eclectic mid-century house with excellent proximity to the very cool city of Port Townsend.”

Midcentury Modern Dream Over Port Townsend

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Port Townsend. The house is well equipped with everything we needed, and the host is very communicative and provides excellent recommendations for entertainment and food. We enjoyed the ocean views, renting e-bikes, exploring downtown and uptown, and going on day trips. ”
