October 2026Nantucket cottage
My husband and I spent the first week in October in a lovely cottage and Nantucket! The weather turned out to be perfect, and the crowds had departed, but it was still a busy place. The cottage was wonderfully situated about 15 minutes out of town.. But we quickly learned about the WAVE bus service in Nantucket. There are about eight or 10 different routes that these buses travel and you can get almost anywhere on the island for free using the buses. We discovered that many of the buses stopped right at the head of our street only a few steps from the cottage, so we jumped on these as we explored Nantucket. The house was beautifully decorated in a “cottage “style that fit perfectly in Nantucket. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed when we decided to eat at home and my husband loved the grill in the side yard. Our hostess, Jen, was available to answer a couple of questions we had. And she had equipped the kitchen with basics such as olive oil and seasonings, baggies, and tinfoil. She also informed us that the man living across the street, David Barrett, was a taxi driver on Nantucket and if we needed a ride from the ferry, we should give him a call. We ended up giving him quite a few calls as he took us to and from the ferry and also picked us up after we had a couple of evening meals downtown. We highly recommend this Nantucket cottage! ”
