The Jewel Box
An extraordinary tropical experience awaits you on the Big Island! Located on the Eastern side of the Big Island is The Jewel Box, a striking resort-style house newly remodeled with your comfort and luxury in mind.
You'll find beautiful hardwood floors, white shaker style cabinets, silestone counters and Dahl tiles throughout. Ceiling fans and tradewinds cool every room, while floor to ceiling windows feature amazing ocean views. Sit back and enjoy the relaxing tranquility on three separate lanais, one on each level.
Decorated in vintage Hawaiiana and modern conveniences, The Jewel Box has every comfort you would expect and enjoy.
The main floor features an open concept kitchen, dining area and living room, plus bedroom and adjoining full bath with a large tiled shower.
A full covered lanai runs the full length of the house with lounge chairs and dining area.
The kitchen is well equipped with full sized refrigerator/freezer, gas stove, dishwasher, microwave, as well as complete cookware and dining settings.
The living room has a flat screen TV with satellite dish, DVD player and Apple TV. Free WiFi internet access is also provided.
The 3rd level is a master suite and full bathroom with shower and a private deck with lounge chairs and a sweeping view of the ocean.
Walk outside, down garden path, and you will find a bonus room with its own lanai with lounge chairs and a grill. This room features a futon for additional guests.
The Jewel Box is located in the Puna District. This area on the eastern shore stretches from the ocean to the 4,000 foot summit of Kilauea volcano.
A few blocks out the front door is the Red road, one of the most scenic and renowned drives in all of Hawaii, featuring black sand beaches, dense rainforest, and Ahalanui Park (a spring warmed by the volcano's steam). Along this 12 mile drive are a number of beach parks including Waiopae tidepools with some of the most incredible snorkeling on the island.
A short walk from The Jewel Box is Kehena Beach, a secluded (clothing optional) black sand beach hidden from view from the roadway.
Two miles away is Uncle Roberts, a night market, which hosts live music, food stalls, handcraft exhibition, and a bazaar-style market every Wednesday night.
Nearby is Pahoa, an old mill town with a row of clapboard shops along a boardwalk, local restaurants and a bakery.
During the weekend, the Pahoa Makuu Farmers Market features fresh fruit, roasted macadamia nuts, food stalls and local art.
A short drive is Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and Volcano Village, a charming rainforest town known for its glass blowing and art galleries.
On Puna's Eastern point is the Cape Kumukahi area with scenic hiking. The air here is measured to be the freshest in the world.
From Cape Kumukahi, hike a little over a mile along the 1960's lava flows to Kapoho Bay, a local swimming hole and beach geothermally heated by the Kilauea volcano.
About 45 minute drive to the city of Hilo, waterfalls, botanical gardens, and zip lines.
